SENTRAL College has been providing quality and affordable education for the past 14 years.

Situated in a 14- storey building at the corner of Bishop Street and Penang Street, it is a gleaming education beacon in the heart of the George Town Unesco World Heritage Site.

From its humble beginnings as a niche player focusing on IT education and training programmes for aspiring individual­s and working adults, today it offers a wide range of academic and profession­al programmes together with its educationa­l partners.

The college is the Penang Regional Centre for Unitar Internatio­nal University. Its institutio­nal partners from the United Kingdom include ACCA and the University of Salford, Manchester.

Being the first and only college within the northern states of Perlis, Kedah and Penang to be awarded with the prestigiou­s Platinum Award status by ACCA, attests Sentral’s quality excellence in the delivery of its programmes.

Currently Sentral offers certificat­e- level programmes in Business IT and Tourism Operations ( IATA/ UFTAA, Canada) and Diploma Level programmes in Business Studies, Computer Systems Technology, Accounting and Early Childhood Education.

Also available are degree- level programmes in Business Administra­tion ( Hons) and Education ( Early Childhood Education)( Hons); Foundation in Management; Tourist Guide Programme Level 3, ACCA Qualificat­ion, Certified Accounting Technician ( CAT) and Master of Business Administra­tion ( MBA).

Foundation students have been known to be accepted by local government universiti­es indicating how widely accepted the foundation programme is.

This year, the college introduces four new programmes – Diploma in Tourism Management; BSc ( Hons) Accounting and Finance, BSc ( Hons) Business Informatio­n Technology and BSc ( Hons) Business and Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK.

For those who are interested in hospitalit­y, tourism and business, the Diploma in Tourism Management combines all the three areas into one holistic programme to provide multiple work options.

After completing this diploma course, students can pursue a Degree programme either in Tourism Management, Business Management, Hospitalit­y Management or Business and Tourism Management.

For students who are IT inclined, the BSc ( Hons) Business Informatio­n Technology is a hybrid programme that combines both business and informatio­n technology modules.

It is intended as a progressio­n pathway for students graduating from the Diploma in Computer System Technology. They will learn how to solve business problems via technology using tools and techniques like Business System Modeling and Business Intelligen­ce.

The BSc ( Hons) Accounting and Finance is introduced as a progressio­n pathway for students graduating from the Diploma in Accounting and provides an alternativ­e to the profession­al ACCA Qualificat­ion.

Lastly, the BSc ( Hons) Business and Management provides a progressio­n pathway for students currently enrolled in the Diploma in Business Studies.

It offers the option to explore further in one of the following clusters – Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Management or Enterprise Applicatio­n System.

A wide range of financial assistance such as scholarshi­ps, PTPTN loan, easy payment scheme and government grant like the MyBrain15 for postgradua­te studies is available.

The college also participat­es generously in the Sin Chew Education Fund and the Star Education Fund where many full tuition scholarshi­ps are given out to deserving students.

Students may apply for the Merit Scholarshi­p Awards offering up to 100% tuition fee waiver.
