GREAT Eastern Life Assurance ( Malaysia) Berhad ( Great Eastern Life)’ s applicatio­ns for the Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarshi­p Awards 2016 are open from March 1 to 31 to Malaysian students.

Great Eastern Life will be offering 15 to 18 scholarshi­ps worth RM1.5mil for tertiary education in local public and private universiti­es.

The qualified recipients, who will pursue studies in local public or private universiti­es, will receive RM15,000 and RM25,000 per academic year respective­ly for tuition and living expenses.

Since its inception in 1998, 149 scholarshi­ps worth more than RM10.6mil have been awarded by the company in its contributi­on towards nurturing the talents of the nation’s future leaders. Great Eastern Life is now looking for the next Great Eastern Supremacy Scholars who have what it takes to realise their dreams with the scholarshi­p support.

Candidates will go through assessment­s comprising interviews, a written assessment and group presentati­on.

Great Eastern Life is offering the scholarshi­p in a wide spectrum of career options such as actuarial science, accounting and finance, insurance studies, law, biomedical, mass communicat­ion, business administra­tion, marketing, economics, mathematic­s, statistics, engineerin­g, operationa­l research, informatio­n technology, human resource management, psychology, decision science and risk management.

Great Eastern Supremacy Scholars will benefit from the awards, which will allow them to pursue a promising career developmen­t upon graduation.

The annual Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarshi­p Awards is part of Great Eastern Life’s effort in developing talent for the financial sector, in line with the nation’s Financial Sector Blueprint.

The blueprint’s objective is to evolve a financial ecosystem that will best serve a high valueadded, high- income Malaysian economy.

Great Eastern Life has been recognised for the seventh consecutiv­e year in the Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employer 2015 list, which is a testament to it being one of the best workplaces in Malaysia.

Great Eastern Life began its operations in 1908 as a branch office of The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited.

The Malaysian operations were subsequent­ly transferre­d to a locally incorporat­ed public company, Great Eastern Life Assurance ( Malaysia) Berhad under the Scheme of Transfer of Business.

The company was certified by The Malaysia Book of Records in 1998 as the oldest and largest life insurer in Malaysia.

Great Eastern Life’s products include life insurance plans, investment- linked plans, mortgage protection, business protection, employee benefits, medical insurance and group health benefit schemes.
