TRENDY, fun and classy. These were the elements that made Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, better known as Fazura, the right match for CH Carolina Herrera.

The actress, singer, producer, businesswoman and Malaysian fashion icon was invited to grace the recent premiere of CH Carolina Herrera’s Baret bag.

Meeting the starlet, she looked effortlessly elegant in a CH Carolina Herrera midi shirt dress with large polka dots. Toting a personalised Baret bag, her look was complete. ( The Baret bag, incidentally, is inspired by 18th century explorer Jeanne Baret and her first voyage around the world.)

“I love polka dots and I feel it is a print that not many Malaysians dare to wear. This dress has a kind of a vintage vibe but when you put it on and with the pocket detailing, it mixes the old and the new seamlessly which is a quality I love about the brand. With this dress, you don’t need much else. Just a pair of pearl earrings and you’re done!” she enthused.

In embodying the spirit of Carolina Herrera, the 32- year- old revealed three fashion rules she lives by. And that is to keep it “simple, chic and fabulous.”

Her personal sense of style is minimal as she describes herself as a “very simple girl.” A pair of leggings and an oversized T- shirt are usually her outfit du jour on most days. She doesn’t like to accessorise too much and opts to go without bangles and rings and sometimes necklaces. “I do love colour, I love black and white and florals. I’m very girly, which is everything in this collection,” she said, pointing at the racks of Spring/ Summer ready- to- wear. “You can slip anything on and stop traffic with even just the simplest outfit.” Browsing through the looks, vibrant jewel tones of emerald, sapphire and ruby are featured on dresses of varying lengths while black and white pairings made an appearance as spots, stripes or trimmings. It came as no surprise that Fazura’s top 20 picks include a few classic cocktail dresses, some everyday essentials and a show- stopping gown in red lace. “It doesn’t matter what you do – whether you are a mother or an entrepreneur – as long as you’re current yet appreciate the vintage feel, CH Carolina Herrera is for you,” she said. “I do believe my picks repesent those qualities and I feel every woman should have at least a classic, well- fitted white button- down shirt, white trousers, a little black dress and even the little red dress in her wardrobe!”

In terms of finding your own footing where fashion is concerned, Fazura shared: “Don’t follow anyone else’s style but if you really must, go for it and try it on. You’ll never know if it’s for you until you work it. Apart from that, dress age appropriately and be minimal. Too much make- up and heavy accessories are also a no- no.”

“I want to say that I am confident and fabulous and I am glad to be the woman chosen to represent the brand today, here in Malaysia,” concluded Fazura.
