Aesthetic medical practitioner

-

MAHSA Academy of Aesthetic Medicine ( MAAM) is a full- fledged postgraduate institute dedicated to advancing education, research and development of Aesthetic Medicine and Regenerative Science in Asia.

It is the first of its kind to offer various postgraduate courses in Aesthetic Science for doctors, nurses and dentists in a unique “medical spa- like academy” where doctors can learn and practise under professional supervision.

MAAM has partnered with several renowned medical universities to benefit from their educational resources, making MAAM stand out among similar peers.

MAAM’s signature programme is the intensive 10- month Professional Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine ( PDAM) – a postgraduate programme that complies with Malaysian LCP ( Letter of Credentialing and Privileging) requirements and helps prepare Malaysian doctors for the LCP Board Examination.

Aesthetic medical practitioners and academicians, who understand the practice and its limitations designed the programme, making it unique compared to other courses in the region.

PDAM gives equal importance to coaching theory, procedural skills and business management – giving doctors an insight into other arenas not normally taught in healthcare education.

This ensures the graduates are efficient in both the medical and management portfolio, including business development and business operations.

Doctors undergoing the PDAM programme will be fortunate to share Mahsa University’s resources, which range from cadaveric facial dissection, online journals and lecturing support from the Anatomy, Physiology, Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Psychology, Laser Medicine and other relevant departments.

The centre has also invested in an array of lasers and aesthetic medical devices to support the doctors to complete the required number of cases as per LCP requirements.

PDAM is conducted over the weekends and combines conventional lecturing with E- Learning to facilitate doctors to study while working and to balance between family, life and work.

“Our vision is to produce well- educated, qualified aesthetic doctors who, having been trained by LCP- certified doctors, will go on to become LCP holders who may come back to share their knowledge with other doctors,” says course co- ordinator and MAAM head Dr Morthy.

Candidates for this module will need to be Malaysian Medical Council- registered doctors in good standing, with no ongoing litigation procedures against them.

With a target of 20 to 25 students per intake, the 10- month course is highly personalised and gives extensive attention to clinical hands- on experience.

Doctors will spend the first semester refreshing medical basics like physiology and learning theoretical aspects of Aesthetic Medicine, while the second semester will be dedicated to Aesthetic Medicine procedures and clinical work.

The course is open for registration now and will start on July 1.

Alhough the fee is set at RM38,000, MAAM is giving an exclusive discount for the first intake.

Doctors can visit www. maam. edu. my or e- mail “I want to know more” to info@ maam. edu. my for the programme brochure or call 03- 7965 2693 for details.
