Obtain the Greenwich edge at SeGi
IT is difficult to imagine life without Information and Communications Technology ( ICT). It has become so ingrained in our daily lives, from the way we work to the way we communicate. The future prospect of ICT is still bright and pursuing an ICT qualification will definitely lead to a successful career.
SEGi University and Colleges offer 3+ 0 ICT programmes from University of Greenwich, UK. The university traces its roots to 1890, when it operated near the Thames River to teach practical and commercial skills to London workers. An innovator from the start, it pioneered the country’s first part- time day- release ( part- time courses once a week during the day) and sandwich courses ( courses with an extra year of work experience).
The University of Greenwich won the Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education in 2008 and 2015. The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes are awarded every two years to universities and colleges that have carried out important work displaying excellence, innovation, impact and benefit, both for the university itself and the wider world in general.
A notable graduate of the University of Greenwich, Prof Charles K. Kao, was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2009. Prof Kao made the discovery that led to the breakthrough in fibre optic technology, which allows global communication via the Internet.
His research culminated in the proof that strands of glass fibre can transmit near limitless amounts of digitised data on pulses of laser light. This important discovery proved to be an inspiration to others and enabled the use of fibre optics in telecommunications and led to the development of the Internet. He is now known as the “Godfather of Broadband”.
There are three University of Greenwich programmes future ICT leaders can choose to study at SEGi:
>
Bachelor of Science ( Hons) ( 3+ 0) Computing
Be on the road to becoming an ICT specialist by learning to use technology to solve problems. Students will learn how to write and programme software, create applications for mobile devices and develop network solutions for anyone needing access to the Internet. Students will then graduate with the skills and knowledge to logically think through a problem and find a way to solve it.
>
Bachelor of Science ( Hons) ( 3+ 0) Computing with Digital Media
Students will understand the fundamentals of digital media development, software development and computer systems, while also developing skills in related technologies such as user interfaces, graphics and audio- visual production techniques, graphics, animation and virtual reality.
The syllabus is tailored in such a way that it enables students to critically analyse and discuss the key issues associated with digital media and web technologies, and to enable them to communicate effectively with business, computing and design professionals upon graduation.
>
Bachelor of Science ( Hons) ( 3+ 0) Computer Systems and Networking
Modern computer systems require people with the knowledge and technical skills to design, create, operate and maintain network infrastructures. Through this programme, students will learn issues and concerns involved in network implementation and management, and will be supported in developing personal and professional skills.
Students will also take industrial examinations such as Cisco, Certified Hacker, Microsoft and Java certifications and develop valuable personal and professional skills.
Upon completion of any of the ICT programmes at SEGi, graduates will have a sound knowledge and understanding of the disciplines and implement ICT solutions in their selected sphere of study.
