Springboard to new career
WHEN Dali Abdul Latiff Aw began his MBA ( Master of Business Administration) qualification in January 2013, he never dreamt it would springboard a change of career – and see him establishing his own consulting company.
Dali, a mechanical engineer, spent most of his career with Petronas, working on research and development assignments across the world, including in Switzerland, Britain, Japan and Austria.
He then joined Proton as its value management general manager, strengthening value management processes and enhancing product value.
Undertaking the MBA with Edinburgh Business School at Heriot- Watt University Malaysia’s Putrajaya campus then took Dali down a new and exciting career path.
“The MBA was a capstone experience, giving me the confidence to step up and put into practice my entrepreneurial ideas,” Dali said.
“Along with my wife and two other business partners I started Clover Innovative Sdn Bhd in 2015, a boutique consulting firm where I am a managing partner.”
The company provides business development, project management and trading services in automotive, defence, green building and clean energy solutions and products.
“My MBA really was the tipping point towards setting up my own firm,” says Dali.
Dali chose to do his MBA at Edinburgh Business School because he wanted the flexibility of doing the MBA part- time and at a permanent campus on the south side of the Klang Valley.
“It was also very important to have a good mix of students from different industries in the classroom so I could extend my business network,” he said.
Dali said having an international faculty with industrial experience teaching and relating their work experience to it really put the cherry on top.
“There are many MBA programmes available in Malaysia but if you are looking at an MBA that offers flexibility in its courses, access to international faculty, opportunities to expand your networks, and the option to study at EBS campuses in Edinburgh and Dubai, please do consider Edinburgh Business School,” said Dali.
He said the MBA was not just about passing the exams, but most importantly to build one’s network in order to expand business opportunities for one’s company or, like him, to build his own business.
Registration is currently open for Edinburgh Business School’s September 2016 intake, offering the world- renowned MBA programme, delivered by a top UK and Asian faculty at the Putrajaya campus since January 2013.
To date, 32 students have completed it with a further 72 current students.
The part- time programme is delivered via weekend seminars so students can continue to earn while they learn.
They join a global learning network of more than 11,700 active students and 19,200 graduates worldwide.
The Edinburgh Business School MBA programme is approved by the MoHE, fully accredited by the MQA in Malaysia, and delivered by Heriot- Watt University, accredited by Royal Charter in the UK.
Edinburgh Business School will hold three preview events for those interested in the MBA programme, starting June 2 at The Gardens Hotel, Mid- Valley, Kuala Lumpur, at 6.30pm.
