Gaining first- hand information
THE International Medical University ( IMU) welcomes prospective students with an SPM or O- Levels qualification and their parents to its Foundation in Science ( FiS) Info Day on June 11 at its campus in IMU Bukit Jalil from 10am to 4pm.
The FiS Info Day is the perfect opportunity for prospective students to obtain first- hand information about the university, meet students and staff about how FiS can provide them entry to IMU’s undergraduate programmes.
Parents and students can also chat with faculty members about life in IMU and seek advice and information on a variety of issues such as applying to the university, financing ( including fees and financial assistance) and accommodation. This is a great opportunity to find out about the IMU scholarships.
Scholarships are available for the one- year FiS in the form of a fee waiver from RM2,000 to RM6,000.
At the FiS Info Day at Bukit Jalil, visitors will also be able to attend a talk by faculty members and a sharing session with a sneak preview into its curriculum by students.
Current students will be on- hand to act as “ambassadors” throughout the day, ensuring visitors are able to take advantage of the talks and tours of the campus facilities.
Taught by highly experienced lecturers, FiS is a one- year programme conducted in three semesters. It is awarded by IMU and offered at the university’s main campus in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
FiS in IMU aims to prepare students academically and holistically for their undergraduate studies. With that in mind, the teaching methodology and assessment methods employed in FiS are aligned to the methodologies used in the undergraduate programmes.
Students benefit from these as it gives them early exposure and a head start to the undergraduate learning environment.
The FiS in IMU is an important foundation year that aims to prepare students to be independent learners.
Another added advantage is that the programme has a strong pastoral care system.
Each FiS student is assigned to an academic mentor for help and guidance regarding academic matters.
Besides that, a designated Student Services Executive is engaged to look after students’ welfare on nonacademic matters.
IMU’s FiS has three intakes a year – April, July and September.
These convenient starting dates enable smooth transition into the preferred degree courses that students are interested in upon successful completion of the programme.
Apply for the FiS programme during the FiS Info Day and get a waiver of RM450.
IMU is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 24 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education.
