Legal eagles of tomorrow

THE Certificate in Legal Practice ( CLP) is a professional level examination conducted yearly by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board ( LPQB) that ensures only the best and highly qualified legal graduates are able to enter the world of legal practice.

The purpose and prestige attached to this examination makes it one of the most demanding assessments in the nation.

Bearing this in mind and the inherent fear of passing the examination among candidates, Advance Tertiary College ( ATC) has over the years, structured its CLP course to specifically cater to the demands and needs of the legal profession.

ATC offers a balanced combination of lectures and tutorials with the prime focus of preparing students to pass the CLP in their first sitting.

Its faculty is a dynamic mix of legal practitioners and academicians whose unwavering dedication and vast experience has contributed to the consistent 70% passing rates among its students for the past five years.

Out of the total nine Second Class Uppers awarded by the LPQB in the recent 2015 examination, ATC is proud to have a record of five students grabbing the award.

Speaking of his experience as a student with ATC, Aravind Kumarr Muniandy said, “To me, the great blend of experienced litigators as well as dedicated academicians in the faculty made my CLP journey easier.”

Aravind is one of the CLP examination candidates in July 2015 and is pleased to have secured an outstanding result of Second Class Upper in his first sitting.

Another Second Class Upper receiver this year, Ng Ken Yung, feels elated in passing CLP on his first attempt.

He said: “ATC is a great institution of higher learning due to its proven track record and highly dedicated team of lecturers.”

Three other second uppers achievers are Diong Tze Mei, Tan Yin Kai and Joanna Keng.

Also, out of the five book prizes awarded for individual subjects by the LPQB during its recently concluded CLP graduation ceremony, ATC is proud to record three students grabbing the awards: Ng Ken Yung, Chew Mei Yng and Lee Soo Yoong.

“Since 1987, ATC has stood proud in offering viable legal education to aspiring schoolleavers and workings adults,” said CLP course adviser E. L. Tan.

“Founded on the basic tradition of imparting genuine legal knowledge and excellence, ATC strives to always maintain high standards in the academic achievements of its students.”

ATC offers a special rate for its course fee to those who need to repeat the examinations.
