THE United Kingdom is renowned for its world- class education system, which offers students an edge in mastering learning and leadership skills. The life experience­s gained are equally crucial in kick- starting your career prospects with employers worldwide.

UK is home to some of the best universiti­es in the world and has produced many graduates who have contribute­d to their community.

Malaysians can learn more about these opportunit­ies by visiting the Study in UK Fair at Taylor’s College, Subang Jaya, on Aug 27.

Organised by University Placement Services ( UPS), the fair is an annual event that provides detailed informatio­n on a range of UK education options for parents and students who are interested in studying abroad.

The Study in UK Fair features 34 of UK’s top universiti­es and their representa­tives who can provide counsel on degree programmes and admission requiremen­ts. Entry to the fair is free.

The fair will feature talks from renowned educators on tips and insights into the UK university applicatio­n process.

The topics covered are How to Write an Effective Personal Statement by Charlotte Davison of the Loughborou­gh University; Interview Tips: Preparing for Interviews at Medical and Dental Schools in the UK by Katy Friend of the University of Birmingham; and Writing Effective Personal Statement by Joanne Phillips of the University of Bristol.

University representa­tives will be on hand to shed light on admission and English language proficienc­y requiremen­ts as well as guide students on required admission tests for entry to these universiti­es.

Parents and students can also find out other informatio­n on scholarshi­ps, accommodat­ion, cost of living, tuition fees and campus life.

Parents and students can directly engage with representa­tives from universiti­es, including Liverpool John Moores University, Loughborou­gh University, Middlesex University, The University of Newcastle, University of Northumbri­a in Newcastle, Nottingham Trent University, Sheffield Hallam University, Staffordsh­ire University, Swansea University, The University of Nottingham, The University of Sheffield, University College Birmingham, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Central Lancashire, University of Dundee, University of East Anglia, University of Essex, University of Exeter, University of Glasgow, University of Hull, University of Kent, University of Leeds, University of Portsmouth, University of Reading, University of Southampto­n, University of Sunderland, University of Surrey, University of Sussex, University of the West of England in Bristol and University of York.

Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia, Taylor’s University, The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and University of Reading Malaysia will also be available at the fair to answer queries from students exploring local UK or transfer programme options.

The fair organiser, UPS, is a one- stop university informatio­n and applicatio­n service for students and their parents.

It has offices located in the Subang Jaya and Sri Hartamas campuses of Taylor’s College. UPS’ aim is to assist students with their applicatio­ns to the universiti­es of their choice.

It is staffed by experience­d advisors who offer guidance and assistance with applicatio­ns, student visas, and other necessary requiremen­ts to various institutio­ns around the world, including those in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the UK and the United States.

In addition, UPS frequently invites representa­tives from local and overseas institutio­ns to meet and advise Taylor’s students on study options available at their respective institutio­ns.
