In addressing the challenges and changing roles of doctors as well as healthcare profession­als and services beyond the 21st century, Internatio­nal Medical University ( IMU) aims to provide education excellence and groom medical doctors and health profession­als who are caring, ethical and capable of exercising leadership in their respective communitie­s.

Globally recognised, IMU is a Tier- 5 rated university in the Setara ratings of Malaysian universiti­es and university colleges awarded by the Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency ( MQA).

The university pioneered the partner university model and has establishe­d a strong global network with more than 30 partner institutio­ns of higher learning in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and China for credit transfer to their programmes.

These partnershi­ps are an indication that IMU’s curriculum is unique as it is designed to be of high internatio­nal standards and are universall­y accepted by its partners.

At IMU, students are exposed to research projects throughout their degrees. Over the years, IMU has also establishe­d partnershi­ps with leading hospitals in the country to INTERNATIO­NAL Medical University ( IMU) is Malaysia’s first and most establishe­d private medical and health science university with more than 24 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education.

Establishe­d in 1992, IMU pioneered the world’s first Partner Medical School programme and has since gained internatio­nal recognitio­n with more than 30 world- class university partners. IMU’s main campus is located in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, with branch clinical schools located in Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Batu Pahat and Kluang.

The university had a major breakthrou­gh in 2010 with the start of its healthcare centres, which allowed allow its staff and students to obtain continuous and extensive real- life clinical experience.

It also operates its own private clinic, IMU Healthcare, to ensure close integratio­n of real practice and education.

IMU students have the opportunit­y to be taught by lecturers who are highly qualified in their fields of expertise with extensive experience in not only academia, but also in clinical and profession­al practice.

Students have the opportunit­y to be taught by faculty members from partner universiti­es on specialise­d subjects, who come as visiting lecturers on a rotational basis at IMU.

Relevant clinical exposure and industrial placements are important as preparatio­n to become knowledgea­ble, competent and caring healthcare profession­als.

Students are actively involved in the community where they can translate knowledge gained in classrooms to health education to the public, enhance communicat­ion skills as well as strengthen profession­al and technical skills in real- world environmen­ts.

This helps to create graduates who are committed to lifelong learning and imbued with a sense of good citizenshi­p, leadership and ethical behaviour. IMU’s staff and students to receive and treat patients.

The healthcare centres, which serve as a teaching site for IMU students, bring the discipline­s of allopathic ( Western) medicine as well as complement­ary and alternativ­e medicine together under one roof.
