Exciting times at auto show
VISITORS can look forward to a firsthand experience of a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) car in electric mode, eco-mode and combined mode during the Malaysia Autoshow to be held at the Mines Exhibition Centre from Nov 10 till 13.
Project PHEV is designed for enthusiasts and students to get a hands-on experience on PHEVs with Mercedes-Benz and Volvo demonstrating their locally-assembled PHEVs.
There will also be Comos electric cars on show.
Another exciting highlight will be the unveiling of Malaysia’s first electric passenger vehicle, which is a joint venture between Beijing Auto International Cooperation (BAIC) and Amber Dual Sdn Bhd at Malaysia’s largest annual autoshow being organised by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI).
Several other new car launches will also take place during the fourday auto show.
Visitors who place their bookings on a passenger car at the Malaysia Autoshow stand to win a Kia Rio X 1.4 Sedan worth RM78,000 in the “Buy a Car, Win a Kia” contest sponsored by Naza Kia Malaysia.
To make it an auto show for all age groups, students from schools and institutions of higher learning in uniforms or with student cards will be given free entrance on Nov 10 and 11.
“We invite students and the teaching community to have a firsthand experience of the PHEVs that are assembled in Malaysia. The auto industry is huge and demands a broad spectrum of industrial and knowledge workers: chemical, mechanical, electrical, engineering, computer science, marketing, mass communication, finance and industrial design,” said Datuk M Madani Sahari, CEO, Malaysia Automotive Institute.
“We aim to expose students to the auto industry and give them an opportunity to engage with OEM’s as part of our youth engagement programme, and for the youth to check out the career opportunities available.”
Plenty of activities are being lined up for the wholesome family auto show with display and test drives of new cars, free safety check inspection and car care week, lifestyle booths and plenty of good food.
Additionally, most of the major car brands in the country are getting ready with exclusive deals and discounts only at the auto show for visitors who are making plans to purchase a car of their choice.
“The Autoshow represents one of the best opportunities to do so because November is the last quarter of the year, a time when the industry traditionally clears stock to get ready for the new year,” said Madani.
More than 100 exhibitors from renowned vehicle brands, aftermarket and accessory products will lay out their extensive product range during the event.
Show patrons who buy the entry ticket stand to win three TreeletrikE-Bikes in a lucky draw contest.
Show sponsor AIG Insurance will be educating motorists about usagebased insurance.
Another sponsor, Dealer Tech, specialises in a sharing-app that turns a smartphone into a powerful dealer and car sale information system. It will customise this system for car brands exhibiting at the auto show.
Dealer Tech will also customise an online polling system for the Malaysia Car of the Year “People’s Choice” Contest 2016 for consumers to vote and stand a chance to win attractive prizes.
At the MAI pavilion, show patrons will be treated to a Car Care Week promo with free inspection, a Safe Car info booth as well as Career and Vendor booths.
Entrance fee to the autoshow is RM10 (adult).
