Heading towards a bright future

RECENTLY, 11 HELP Academy students were the proud recipients of the Dean’s Award from the University of Derby.

The ceremony, which took place in November, was witnessed by University of Derby (UoD) international relationship manager Gail Thrippleton, international partnership coordinator Eugenio Hernandez Gomez and relationship manager and CMI (Chartered Management Institute) representative Brian Wilkinson.

Thrippleton said that employers in the UK are looking for workready graduates who have the much-needed attributes and skills. Some research they have done with UK employers is that instead of looking for a person with only impressive academic qualifications, employers prefer someone with the right confidence to function well at the job.

She also said that a student with the Dean’s Award have not only proven themselves academically, but are also doers who can perform well outside a classroom. These students are more employable.

The HELP Education Group prides itself on its choice of partner universities, which are top-notch in terms of delivery of programmes and ranking.

The UoD is a modern, innovative education provider with over 160 years of expertise in education.

In 2015, UoD jumped 29 places to make it to the Top 50 in the United Kingdom (UK) Guardian University Guide. UoD graduates remain among the UK’s most employable. Statistics reveal 96% of full-time first degree graduates are in work or further studies, placing UoD in the12th place in the UK for student employability.

UoD, HELP’s partner university, offers six 3+0 programmes from the Derby Business School.

CMI has recently accredited two UoD International Collaborative Partners – the EU Business School based in Barcelona and Munich, and HELP Academy in Malaysia – for the delivery of BA (Hons) Business Management Programme, where students will be enrolled as Affiliate Members and receive an Advanced Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Programmes that have received the Provisional Accreditation approval include BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance; BA (Hons) Business Management; BA (Hons) Business (International Business) and BA (Hons) Business (Human Resource Management).

HELP Academy’s twinning programme with the University of Derby is the only programme in the region that has received CMI accreditation. UoD Deputy ViceChancellor, Rob Dubrow-Marshall said, “Our partnership means students can receive the benefits of high quality learning; developing the experience, knowledge and skills businesses seek.”

According to Thrippleton, the key feature of the Derby programme is that it is very vocational-based and so is able to produce work-ready graduates.

These are a a few of the value-added things the university offers and right now, over 96% of graduates are either employed or in further education.

Students registering for the University of Derby programmes will be entitled to participate in the “Unique Global Exposure”

– a 10-day trip (airfare and accommodation included) to experience campus life in the UK; attend workshops, meet and network with UoD students and lecturers and visit UoD’s industry partners such as Rolls Royce.

For those students aspiring to pursue a UK 3+0 degree, UoD’s programmes offer a comprehensive course of study.

The innovative modules have been designed by the Derby Business School and delivered by the faculty members of Department of Management Studies (DOMS) with extensive experience of delivering UK 3+0 programmes.

Students pursuing UoD 3+0 degrees are required to complete internships during their second and third year over four to five months respectively in national and multinational companies.

HELP, in partnership with University of Derby, prides itself on offering a high- quality education relevant to today’s world and ensures graduates are well equipped to lead successful careers.
