Herre’s a treat for samba and bossa nova lovers as Brazilian jazz comes to toown. Making his debut in Malaysia is BBrazil’s top saxophonist, arranger a nd producer, Leo Gandelman, wwho is celebrated by fans of Brazillian popular music. He is also a cclassical musician and has performed as a soloist in renowned orchestras and chamber recitals. His twonight concert is presented by the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre and the Embassy of Brazil in Kuala Lumpur. Expect some foot-tapping rhythms from Gandelman and his quartet. With a theme of Italian fare with a flair, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will present music that brings to mind festivities, dances and the spirit of Italy, such as Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 in A major, nicknamed Italian Symphony. A year on from his passing, David Bowie’s music continues to reverberate. The man had it all – sound, style and sophistication. With all three, he made some of the best music the pop world has come to know, be it in Ziggy Stardust guise or as the Thin White Duke. His music will be celebrated with pomp and panache when three bands take to stage on Feb 18, with the likes of The Wakeful Distillers & The Moonbeams, Joi Noir and Diamond Dogs, all paying tribute to Bowie’s massive catalogue, ranging from the late 1960s to his final days in 2016. Get set for a rock and roll voyage with Journey as the 1970s band makes its maiden appearance in Malaysia. Since its formation in 1973 in San Francisco, Journey has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide, earning 19 Top 40 singles and 25 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums, and has headlined multiple sold-out stadium tours. Its concert, Journey World Tour 2017 Live In Malaysia, will be filled with nostalgic tunes such as Don’t Stop Believin’, Any Way You Want It, Faithfully, and Open Arms.
