Studying in a top-notch college
IN a recent BBC documentary titled Britain’s Brainiest School focusing on Cardiff Sixth Form College (CSFC), student Sakeena Abbas spoke about why she chose the college after receiving a Botswana government-sponsored scholarship to study at any college in the world: “To be honest, I typed into the Google search engine ‘best sixth form college in the world’ and this is what came up.”
CSFC has been ranked No.1 for A-Level results in independent school league tables published by The Telegraph and The Times newspapers for the past four years. In 2016, 95% of students achieved A*-A grades while 99% of students achieved A*-B grades.
For seven years running, the college has been awarded Top Private Co-educational Boarding School and Top Independent Sixth Form College in the UK Education Advisers' Awards ( www.best-schools.co.uk). No other school in the history of British education has achieved this feat.
So, what prompted the BBC to award CSFC the title of Britain’s Brainiest School? What makes CSFC so successful and why should students choose to study here? Principal Gareth Collier shares: “Our vision is to provide the highest quality academic tuition, university entrance support and pastoral care possible in a sixth form college. We require all applicants to be academically focused and, most importantly, have a passion for their future career.”
CSFC is the place where career dreams become realities. Getting into top courses at top universities has never been harder.
CSFC has the most dedicated and knowledgeable teachers and in-house career guides who help students discover that “special something” about themselves that gives them the edge on the way to success.
Education is now a global business and a college that is proud of its international student heritage and seeks to link students through ability rather than national background will better prepare them for university in the future.
“Co-operation and competition or ‘co-opetition’ is the way forward rather than just competition.
“Students who have been given the skills to achieve this with a variety of international partners will be suitably equipped for university life.”
CSFC literally searches the world for the best approaches to education. Its teaching philosophy draws from both East and West. Like its multicultural student body, CSFC believes its integrated methods set it apart.
Eastern education prizes rigour anddiscipline and students receive a first-rate understanding of core subjects across the student body, while Western approaches value individual creativity. Each pupil is given pastoral care and encouraged to foster his unique talents.
CSFC believes you shouldn’t have to choose – its teaching combines the strengths of both systems for a unique educational approach.
It provides students a strong, disciplined curriculum of core subjects while monitoring and aiding individual progress. Its motto is to provide a curriculum, which suits the needs of the 21st century.
Adrienne Tong said: “The two years I spent at CSFC were fascinating and enriching. The first few months were a test of confidence and life skills, having to balance one’s academic responsibilities with extra-curricular activities, but I did not have to worry about getting support from the staff as they were always encouraging and charitable.”
Clifford Yin Shen Sia said: “Cardiff Sixth Form College offers the support needed to help top students reach their full potential by excelling in their studies and getting into their preferred university.”
