Producing quality engineers
THE School of Science and Engineering at Manipal International University (MIU) intends to be the forefront of scientific and technical education and research in the region.
Students who have completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (or equivalents) and intend to pursue a career in engineering will be given the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge required before pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
Fundamental training
Besides the fundamental training in science, mathematics and humanities, students will be exposed to the various development activities designed to improve their critical thinking and advance their personal development.
MIU believes that it is imperative for future engineers to have hands-on experience for their career advancement.
Its engineering programme exposes students to the fundamentals of engineering, providing them with the working knowledge equipped to work in industries such as manufacturing, transportation, plant engineering, oil and gas, process engineering, telecommunications industries, systems and architecture, software, networking and security.
Necessary skill sets
The curriculum ensures that the graduates are well versed in technical knowledge with the necessary skill sets required by the industry.
Moreover, engineering offers a large number of job opportunities and specialities.
Students in this particular study have the advantage of becoming industrial professionals and are groomed with the necessary soft skills to be high achievers in this competitive field.
Hence, graduates can look forward to kicking off their careers as project engineers, instrumentation engineers, robotics engineers, system analysts and petroleum engineers.
Nestled amid green hills and flanked by a beautiful 13-acre (5.26ha) lake, MIU is registered as South-East Asia’s first “green” university.
It is highly committed to building a campus based on the best green building technology and has registered to comply with the United States Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum green building index.
MIU is a member of the Manipal Global Education Group and a full-fledged Malaysian university offering multidisciplinary programmes with a focus in the fields of Science, Engineering as well as Management and Business.
The Manipal Education Group has been responsible for producing some of the brightest minds in Asia for the past 60 years.
It has a network of six campuses and affiliations with 30 universities worldwide.
Structured internships
At MIU, engineering students are given the exposure via structured internships and on-the-job training even before they graduate.
This helps boost their confidence and the exposure needed to prepare them for their working life.
As part of its exciting offer, MIU is providing 100% scholarship* on tuition fee for its foundation programme studies for students who obtain straight A’s in their SPM.
On top of that, the university is also offering a year’s free hostel stay for new students.
