More than a business foundation
ONE of the most sought-after career paths by secondary schoolleavers is in the field of business. First City University College’s (First City UC) Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers the Foundation in Business Administration with pathways to pursue business-related disciplines.
Once students complete the course, they will be able to start Year 1 of the degree programme of their choice. Students who pass this foundation programme may also pursue the Bachelor of Information Systems (Hons) in Business Management offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.
Alternatively, students who have a keen interest in the field of business and social sciences can opt to pursue specialised two-year programmes such as the Diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism Management or Mass Communication.
Upon completion of their diploma, students can continue to Year 2 of a related degree programme at First City UC.
Four of First City UC’s degree programmes – the BA (Hons) Business Management, BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance, BA (Hons) Marketing and Master of Business Administration (MBA) – are offered in collaboration with the institution’s long-standing United Kingdom (UK) partner university, the Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).
ARU is well-regarded for its quality teaching and support and is one of the largest universities in the East of England with 35,000 students from 177 countries.
ARU was named “one of the top 350 institutions in the world and joint 38th best in the UK” by the Times Higher Education’s (THE) World University Rankings 2016.
The Lord Ashcroft International Business School at ARU is ranked among the top 50 business schools in accounting and finance in the UK, according to The Guardian’s university league table 2017 report.
Students who pursue these programmes will receive two degree certificates – one from First City UC and one from ARU. This dual-award mode will provide them with the recognition and validation from two higher education institutions, giving them the edge that will set them apart from their peers.
First City UC will be launching a new homegrown degree, the BA (Hons) Mass Communication, in May and offering a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the end of the year as pathways from its existing diploma programmes in the respective fields of study.
Students who wish to pursue the foundation programme can take advantage of the all-in-one package. When students register for any of the foundation programmes at First City UC and commit to continuing their bachelor’s degree at the institution, they are given the opportunity to start their foundation classes with zero tuition fees for the first semester.
On top of that, First City UC will give a further 30% discount for the first semester of the degree programme when students continue their degree programmes after completing the foundation courses.
For diploma programmes, students can enjoy the early bird 30% waiver for their tuition fees if they register with First City UC now. Terms and conditions apply.
To learn more about the various programmes, scholarships and incentives offered at First City UC, students are welcome to visit the campus during its Open Day this month.
Its attentive counsellors are available to attend to enquiries every day, including weekends, until March 31.
On March 25 and 26, First City UC is organising the Business and Social Sciences Week, where students can take part in interactive games and demonstrations while checking out First City UC’s new campus building and meeting its academic staff.
Registration is open for the April intake of the foundation and diploma programmes.
