First-class facilities
AS a World Top 100 University (QS World University Rankings 2016), it is no surprise that the University of Sheffield has outstanding facilities.
Over the last few years, there has been significant investment in new teaching spaces, student accommodation, library facilities and a range of student support services to ensure that the university offers a first-class student experience.
The newly built £81mil (RM439mil) building, called The Diamond, has more than 1,000 study spaces for students while the Information Commons library features more than 100,000 books, a range of digital resources and a creative media suite. Open 24 hours a day, students can study when it suits them. Sheffield University’s Management School recently invested in a new Financial Markets Trading Room. If you are interested in life at the London or New York Stock Exchanges, this is the place for you.
Using data from Bloomberg, students can monitor and analyse the financial market, bridging the gap between the classroom and real life as well as giving them a competitive edge when seeking jobs after graduation.
The teaching and learning facilities at Sheffield are complemented by the social and extracurricular spaces, such as its renowned Students’ Union. Voted No.1 in the United Kingdom for the past eight years in a row, the union has more than 300 student societies covering various interests – from sports and film to baking and politics.
These societies offer a range of social events and activities, giving students a lot to do at Sheffield.
