Recognised for excellence
STUDENTS planning to pursue an accounting or finance programme can enrol in Quest International University Perak (QIUP) in Ipoh, which is fast gaining recognition for its quality programmes.
The accountancy programme is offered at the diploma and bachelor’s degree levels. Graduates of the four-year Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) programme have dual benefits as they may apply for exemption from papers in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) professional examinations.
The Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) is an ACCA-accredited programme and has secured exemption from eight examination papers at the Fundamentals level of the ACCA qualification.
Graduates are entitled to exemption from the Knowledge papers of the ACCA Fundamentals level, which are Accountant in Business, Management Accounting and Financial Accounting.
They are also entitled to exemption from five ACCA Fundamentals level’s Skills papers – Corporate and Business Law, Performance Management, Taxation, Financial Reporting, and Audit and Assurance.
“Accreditation by the ACCA puts a stamp of approval on our programme. It benefits students by showing that they have studied at a level that meets standards developed by experts in the field,” says QIUP’s chief operating officer Nicholas Goh.
“Students who choose our programme gain a competitive edge in the job market. We are proud to be associated with ACCA, one of the world’s leading bodies for professional accountants.”
Besides ACCA, graduates also have the benefit of exemption from seven CIMA papers.
Exemption aside, the accountancy programme is unique in that it focuses on the application of theoretical framework of accountancy rather than the framework itself.
This creates graduates who are job-ready and in line with the industry’s needs for technically competent, multitasking accountants.
QIUP’s three-year Bachelor of Finance (Hons) programme equips students with the knowledge required to excel in the field of finance.
They are exposed to relevant financial concepts and strategies as well as acquire leadership skills in the financial service industry.
Graduates are granted exemption from four modules of the Registered Financial Planner (RFP) professional examinations, providing graduates with a shorter route to obtaining the RFP licence after graduation.
RFP certification is awarded by the Malaysian Financial Planning Council. The RFP designation is approved by Bank Negara Malaysia as the qualification to apply for a financial advisor’s licence and financial advisors’ representative licence.
The RFP designation is also approved by the Securities Commission as the qualification to apply for an investment advisor’s licence and capital markets services licence.
Besides gaining exemptions, Bachelor of Finance (Hons) graduates have the ability to make complex and difficult decisions using modern finance, accounting, investment and management analysis methods.
Case studies are emphasised to allow students to apply their knowledge to realworld situations, preparing them to be job ready when they graduate.
In the third year, students have the opportunity to major in either banking, Islamic finance or financial planning.
Both programmes are offered under the Faculty of Business, Management and Social Sciences, which has attracted the best academicians in the nation.
There are four faculties and one centre at QIUP – Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Integrative Sciences & Technology, Faculty of Business, Management & Social Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Centre for Graduate Studies and Research.
QIUP offers programmes at foundation, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
