Next-generation project managers
HELP University’s ELM Graduate School offers 15 master’s programmes, one of which is the Master of Project Management (MPM).
This programme is accredited by the Global Accreditation Center of the Project Management Institute (PMI-GAC), the world’s leading accrediting body for project management programmes.
The Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) is the global accrediting authority for bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees in project, programme and portfolio management and related programmes.
Founded in 1969, PMI has delivered value for more than 2.9 million professionals working in nearly every country in the world through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research.
PMI offers eight certifications that recognise knowledge and competency, including the Project Management Professional certification held by more than 650,000 practitioners worldwide.
ELM Graduate School’s MPM is the first and only project management programme in South-East Asia to be accredited.
The MPM programme, first offered in 2011, aims to equip executives, administrators, engineers, IT specialists, marketers, consultants and managers with project management principles and practices.
Besides acquiring proficiency in specialist areas such as managing scope, time, costs and risks, resolving conflicts, and examining supply and value chains, candidates also learn to be competent in a broad spectrum of general management disciplines that include leadership, strategy, ethics and investigative case studies.
Such proficiency will endow individuals with the strength and confidence to take on responsibility as project managers for increasingly significant and complex projects and deliver the benefits successfully.
To enrol in the MPM programme, individuals require a bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.5, majoring in areas such as but not limited to business, engineering, IT, quantity surveying, architecture or accounting and finance.
The MPM offers a modular approach to learning, which is conducted in the evenings and weekends for the benefit of working adults.
Its core modules, which have been approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, can be completed in 18 months.
In the programme, students study core modules in subjects such as:
Project Management and Practice where students develop skills in project management at every stage of a project
Project Cost Analysis & Appraisal to understand and apply the knowledge of project management with emphasis on concepts and techniques of cost analysis and project appraisal
Project Management Case Study to discover the principles of successful project management
Risk Management to be equipped with the knowledge, concepts and techniques to face and manage any challenge brought about by risks
Negotiation and Conflict Resolution to develop their negotiation and conflict resolution skills, which are critical in everyday business environment
Operations Management to understand the core disciplines that underpin the day-to-day running of a business
Supply Chain Management to have a basic understanding of the concepts and principles of supply chain activities within the firm and between firms

PMI offers eight certifications that recognise knowledge and competency, including the Project Management Professional certification held by more than 650,000 practitioners worldwide.
HELP University’s programmes provide a framework for developing skills and acquiring knowledge needed to function in an increasingly dynamic workplace and global environment. Its programmes are specifically developed to meet national and global demands.
On the advantages of the MPM programme, champion of the programme Derek Poon Hin Fei says, “It is designed with the working adult in mind. It is modular – the schedule and timeframe are flexible and classes are held in the evening or during the weekends.
“If you wish to upskill yourself for top management, project management and management consultancy positions or to start your own business, the HELP MPM would definitely be a good starting point.”
