Providing quality education

-

ON Jan 10 this year, the Petronas Twin Towers was given a dash of festive joy as bright-eyed graduates, proud parents and representatives of the Malaysian legal profession gathered at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to join in Advance Tertiary College’s (ATC) 27th Grand Convocation Ceremony and 30th anniversary celebration.

For 30 years, ATC has prided itself on living up to its motto of providing quality education at affordable prices and introducing high achievers to the Malaysian legal and commercial landscape. The night got off to a splendid start as the graduates took the stage in the Plenary Hall to bask in the limelight and received their scrolls as a fitting reward for years of hard work.

This year, they had the honour of receiving scrolls from the University of London’s pro-vice-chancellor (international) Dr Mary Stiasny and the University of London’s director of the Undergraduate Laws Programme Reverend Simon Askey.

The business graduates had the privilege of receiving their scrolls from the Deputy higher Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan and ATC’s own senior advisor and shareholder, retired federal court judge Datuk Bentara Luar Hashim Yusoff.

Also present was the judge from the International Court of Justice, the honourable Julia Sebutinde, and ATC’s own academic advisor, Prof Wayne Morrison of Queen Mary University of London.

Apart from celebrating the achievements of the law, business and Certificate in Legal Practice graduates, ATC also used this opportunity to celebrate the exceptional performance of its other students, be it in the academic field or in the fast-paced and challenging world of moots. Participants received their awards from retired federal court judge Tan Sri James Foong.

After the awards were handed out, graduates were given an injection of inspiration as Datuk Shyamala Alagendra, an alumna of ATC as well as a renowned prosecution and defence trial lawyer with the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice in The Hague, delivered the convocation address.

The ATC 27th Grand Convocation Ceremony was a success, filled with the peals of joyous laughter and illuminated by the glow of well-deserved academic victory, cementing why ATC has been and will continue to be the premier provider of legal education in the Asian region.
