Lubricate your dried-up joints
OSTEOARTHRITIS can be defined as the degeneration of the hyaline cartilage covering articular (bone) surfaces.
It is a progressive disease due to the failure in repair of joint damage.
Osteoarthritis causes pain and functional impairment and is closely linked to age, especially those in their 50s and 60s.
While the disease can occur in any joint and can affect one or more, it usually targets the knee, certain joints in the hand, the hip and the small joints in the spine.
Smooth tissue called cartilage and synovium and a lubricant called synovial fluid cushion the joints so bones do not rub together. But increasing age, injury – even sitting the wrong way or carrying too much weight – can wear and tear cartilage and inevitably lead to arthritis.
Hyaluronic Acid with Type II Collagen
A new formulation of Hyaluronic Acid with Type II Collagen made from Mobilee and B2cool is the latest oral solution to lubricate dried up joints of osteoarthritis sufferers, painless and does not involve needles.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in high concentrations within joints, acting as a shock absorber and lubricant. Those with osteoarthritis have a lower than normal concentration of that acid causing joint pain and stiffness.
Possible treatments usually involve injections.
In theory, adding or replacing lubricant to the arthritic joint will reduce pain significantly and help with movement.
However, hyaluronic injections can be painful and does not always work for everyone.
A less popular option is to go for a joint replacement surgery, which is costly.
International scientific manager of Bioiberica in Barcelona, Spain Marta Masides Olagarta explained:
“As the disease progresses we need to move beyond glucosamine and chondroitin to a more targeted natural therapy that can be taken orally and easily digested, without having to go through any pain, needles or surgeries.”
Slowing down osteoarthritis progression
The Community Oriented Program for Control of Rheumatic Diseases (COPCORD) survey conducted in Malaysia in 2007 found most osteoarthritis sufferers have knee osteoarthritis.
Studies also show a trend of younger patients suffering from early stages of this disease.
“Early treatment can help to alleviate the symptoms and slow down the progression of this disease,” said Olagarta.
