Scholarships for students

- TUOS is known for its teaching and research quality.

THE University of Sheffield (TUOS) has been attracting high-calibre students from Malaysia for many years and is committed to rewarding applicants of exceptional promise and high academic standing.

As a premier-league university with an outstanding reputation for teaching and research, TUOS recognises that studying overseas is a major undertaking and aims to assist Malaysians who require financial assistance to start any course at the university.

Malaysians who have secured an offer from TUOS will receive a fee reduction of minimum £2,000 (RM11,060), depending on the programme they enrolled in.

The university offers merit scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students for up to 50% of the annual tuition fee.

Successful candidates are guaranteed scholarships in the first year of study and these are available in each subsequent year, subject to achieving a score of 60% or above in the previous academic year.

This excludes any years in industry or years abroad, and students from the medicine and dentistry discipline.

Students in medicine or dentistry will only receive the scholarship for the non-clinical year. The 50% tuition fee reduction will be applied on the original fee before any other scholarships, discounts and rewards have been applied. However, the scholarship will only be available to applicants who have made TUOS their first choice of study.

There are Commonwealth Scholarships available for individuals with a strong academic background and who wish to start their postgraduate study in either the MSc in Environmental Change and International Development, MMedSci Advancing Practice, MSc Speech Difficulties, MSc Psychological Research Methods, MMedSci Human Nutrition, MPH Public Health, MSc Translational Neuroscience, MSc in Clinical Neurology, MSc in Sustainable Architecture Studies or MSc(Res) Translational Oncology at the university.

Each award offers a full tuition fee waiver, maintenance for university accommodation, a monthly stipend as well as flights to and from Malaysia.

Apart from the above, the university also offers faculty-specific scholarships for engineering and MBA (Master of Business Administration) studies, as well as alumni or family scholarship for students who meet the criteria. TUOS is proud to have an office in Kuala Lumpur and can be reached at seao@sheffield.ac.uk.
