Getting infant care right
AT The children’s house (TCH), the Infant Care Programme is designed for young ones between three and 18 months old.
The first three years of life is an optimum period for learning, which is why it is important for infants to be in an environment that respects, supports and responds to their development.
This award-winning programme was developed in Singapore by Learning Vision, a leader in corporate childcare service since 1989.
It was brought to Malaysia by TCH and received encouraging reception when launched in Bank Negara’s Tunas Kijang Childcare Centre, which has nurtured more than 400 infants over the past six years.
First introduced in the Ara Damansara branch in 2013, the Infant Care Programme promotes holistic development through a carefully curated programme that emphasises the development of every infant’s emerging physical, sensory-motor, perceptual, cognitive, language and socio-emotional skills.
“We have daily programmes designed to promote a wide area of development and provide parents with information of their infant’s daily activity and development.
“Furthermore, we adhere to established health and safety guidelines that are frequently reviewed and improved,” says Chloe Khor (pic), principal of TCH’s Ara Damansara branch.

The Infant Care Programme, which is now also offered at the Bruas centre, is guided by three distinctive features of caregiving, attachment and play.
Care is displayed through respectful, responsive and reciprocal interaction between caregivers and infants.
A sense of trust, security and healthy attachment is also nurtured to encourage explorat and the development of infants’ self-esteem.
The play component helps children acquire and manage cognitive, physical and emotion abilities as well as develop language and social skills.
This sort of interaction nurtur moral values society holds dear s children also learn to become active participants in the world they grow up in.
“Infants who undergo this programme are more sociable and adaptable as they are constantly stimulated through interaction with the educators and other children.
“These infants also develop more positive emotions in and outside of the school and adapt easily when transitioning to toddler class,” says Khor.
All these and more shape infants into young citizens who are not only inquisitive but display a positive attitude to learning.
