Birthday bash launches bag journey
Belgian bag brand celebrates with an exclusive bag created for Asia.
A GIANT “birthday cake” stood in the middle of the mall’s concourse and in place of candles, there were pretty and colourful bagsondisplay.
Well, what do you know? Belgian handbag brand Kipling, synonymous with fun, functionality and style, as well as its lovable furry monkey charms, turns 30 this year.
To celebrate with its customers across Asia, a campaign around the theme “journey” has been launched around the globe, including Hong Kong and Malaysia.
The brand’s journey is showcased through synchronised birthday parties, a new Spring collection featuring a print exclusive to Asia, special in-store Kipling monkey gifts and an influencer campaign.
Established in 1987, Kipling has imagined bags of optimism for women for fun and play since that fateful Monday morning when three enterprising Belgians shook up the concept of the conventional handbag. Today, its functional yet playful creations are now sold in over 60 countries across the globe.
The latest Spring 2017 edition is based on different occasions in a day – Everyday, From Day To Night and Travel. Bags to look out for this season include the Basic
Plus Capsule collection, the highlight of the travel range featuring mix-andmatch style – Art M iconic in dazz grey stripe, and Patch Mix, a City Pack S. There’s also the lightweight Hybrid four-wheeled suitcase, a half hard, half soft case that can be expanded for all that extra shopping.
Slow Living for Everyday styles offers the relaxed Kipling Twist stylish backpack; Nuria, a handy shoulder bag, while Tomiko and Irena, define this season’s sleek look with convenient pockets, roomy interiors and feminine silhouettes.
Since its spring, of course floral patterns come into play. One of the key items include the Defea or Defea S Dream Garden bag, a fun and modern piece with standout spring-inspired floral print exclusive to Asia that was created especially for the 30th anniversary.
Kipling is also collaborating with Taiwanese actress and influencer Rima Zeidan who has made a micro-movie in Antwerp, tracing Kipling’s history and its highs in the city where it all began all those years ago.
