BMS INDULGE Detox for a long and healthy life

- Enjoying a cup of detox tea is one way to restore colon health.

MOST health-related problems are a direct result of our lifestyle choices. While our body functions have remained relatively unchanged over the centuries, our diet has changed tremendously.

Today, we consume foods with refined sugar, white flour, hormone and antibiotics-injected food as well as food with added preservatives, colouring and flavouring.

All of these burden our organs and affect our health, especially for those who do not detoxify regularly.

Daily bowel movements are a basic must for optimum health since diseases almost always begin with toxic bowels.

While we should have a bowel movement after each meal, most of us experience it once a day. Many people who suffer from constipation accept this as a normal occurrence.

If left unchecked, however, long-term constipation coupled with bad eating habits can lead to colon cancer.

A minor problem can turn major

Do not underestimate problems such as constipation and allergies. They may seem minor, but these are actually signs that something is not working properly in your body.

The effects can be far-reaching if ignored and severe if one does not go on a detoxification programme or attempt to have bowel movements at least once a day.

If such a condition is left to deteriorate, the cells in the body become weaker and gradually lose their ability to function.

When faecal matter remains stagnant in the colon, it allows bacteria to breed, causing JAMES T., 59, started having gastric pains five years ago. It would usually go away after a gulp of antacids.

Later, however, he developed a burning sensation in his chest. One night, he woke up complaining of chest pains and was rushed to the hospital.

Medical tests showed that it was not a heart attack, but a chronic form of heartburn called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Acid reflux

Food travels down a muscular tube called the oesophagus. Two valves operate the oesophagus – one at the top of the throat and the other at the bottom of the opening to the stomach.

The lower valve is meant to close after it lets food into the stomach.

However, if this lower valve becomes weakened or damaged, it allows acid to seep back up into the oesophagus (acid reflux).

When this acid contacts the oesophagus and rises up into the mouth, it causes damage and pain, commonly known as heartburn. Other symptoms of acid reflux include sour-tasting fluid in the back of the throat, difficulty swallowing or a feeling that food is stuck in the chest or throat.

Some patients may even experience a chronic cough or breathlessness triggered by the acid reflux.

When heartburn persists over a number of years with accompanying difficulty in swallowing or breathlessness, it may indicate a more serious condition, namely GERD.

If left untreated, GERD can cause chronic inflammation and the development of ulcers, which increases the risk of oesophageal cancer.

Conventionally, heartburn and GERD are treated with medications that control acid. In inflammation to the colon walls. The longer waste from food stays in our colon, the more rotten it becomes, allowing toxins to multiply. Once the colon environment becomes toxic, these same toxins are re-absorbed into the body.

The best way to regain control of your colon and kill off the bad colony is to start a consistent and effective some cases, doctors may initiate the use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

PPIs are powerful stomach acid suppressants and popular choices among patients as they work fast.

But the suppression of acid production in the stomach severely compromises two major processes in the body – digestion and defences.

In 2010, The Journal of the American Medical Association stated: “For most patients the adverse effects of PPIs outweigh detoxification programme.

As a healthy colon improves the digestive process and overall body functions, and eliminates all metabolic waste, you will feel a world of difference in your health and energy levels after just a few sessions.

Remove the congestion and toxins daily and you will be on your way to a clean colon and better health. the benefits. Reducing the unnecessary use of these medications will require action by both physicians and patients.”

This precaution has been echoed by the Malaysian Ministry of Health. Current guidelines recommend that PPIs be used for four to six weeks. In reality, patients continue using PPIs indefinitely as symptoms tend to recur.
