Enchanting Raya experience
FROM now till July 2, Sunway Velocity Mall’s main atrium will be transformed from its contemporary neo-futuristic design to a modern interpretation of kampung life.
Adopting a floral batik concept with the theme “An Enchanting Raya”, shoppers can enjoy a real-life kampung house in the city made with batik elements, batik-inspired banana trees, large flower decorations, and numerous lights and pelita (oil lamp) adorning the walkways of the Main Atrium.
“Floral batik patterns are immediately recognisable around the world and we are happy to showcase our unique interpretation – a combination of traditional patterns mixed with modern touches and expressions,” said Kevin Tan, chief executive officer of Sunway Malls.
Batik canting designs have been selected to enhance the look and feel of the traditional blending in with the modern, which also correlates to the theme “An Enchanting Raya”.
Batik canting designs are timeless and transcend different generations, which Sunway Velocity Mall aims to be.
Overall, the use of floral batik at Sunway Velocity Mall reflects the unified “floral” theme across all Sunway Malls.
The Sunway Malls Raya campaigns kicked off at Sunway Putra Mall on June 1.
Tan added, “We have developed an immersive experience with meet and greets, musical and dance performances, decorations, fashion and a wide variety of delicacies for our shoppers to celebrate Malaysia’s diverse cultures and love for tradition.”
Activities and special performances will be held every weekend and on public holidays throughout the festive period.
One of the highly anticipated delights prepared for children are the meet and greet sessions with characters from Didi and Friends at selected times.
There will also be musical performances featuring traditional instruments such as angklung, gamelan and cak lempong, as well as traditional dances.
Aside from the workshops and activities at the Main Atrium, children can drop by KidzB, a “drop-n-shop” child entertainment centre that provides various sensory play activities. Stimulate their senses at the Wet and Fun Zone and Sand Play, where children can develop fine motor skills in a fun and vibrant environment.
Sunway Velocity Mall has also teamed up with Kraftangan Malaysia to conduct entertaining and educational arts and craft workshops that both children and adults can participate in.
Additionally, a curated selection of batik cloths and accessories, along with decorative flowers will be made available for shoppers to purchase.
In conjunction with Kraftangan Malaysia, an array of seasonal delicacies, festive decorations, traditional clothing and Hari Raya cookies will be made available throughout the campaign by Sunway Velocity Mall’s supportive vendors such as Aeon MaxValu Prime, MC Vogue, and TeoChew Chendul.
Additionally, shoppers are entitled to two tiers of redemption offers when they shop at Sunway Velocity Mall from now till July 2.
A variety of food and beverage vouchers are also up for grabs for those who spend up to RM200 (RM100 for HSBC credit cardholders) in a single receipt.
