The Star Malaysia - Star2

Triumph at trivia and win

- Last year’s Popular Quiz Show audience having fun (and winning books!). — Popular

THE theme of this year’s BookFest@Malaysia is “Read More, Malaysia ... Embrace The World”, so the event’s organiser is determined to get books into as many hands as possible. Popular Book Co (M) Sdn

Bhd is doing that not only by offering deep discounts on thousands of books at the fest but also by giving BookFest visitors the chance to win free books.

Yes, folks, the Popular Quiz Show is back!

Last year’s participants had fun with questions like “what’s the name of the Marvel superhero with spider powers?” and “who invented the telephone?” (can you guess which generation answered which of those two questions?!).

There were also questions about the BookFest itself, so stay sharp and observe everything around you this year to figure out answers.

Apart from the usual prizes of free books, there are also gift vouchers worth RM200 to be won – and if nobody answers correctly, the vouchers snowball, and will continue to do so every day, until someone gets it right. A chance to get some nice bounty here!

The quizzing begins tomorrow with the opening of BookFest 2017 and continues daily until its last day, July 2; get to Hall 5 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre every day between 8pm and 8.45pm if you want to participate. Before you can answer any questions, though, you’ll be asked for a password, which you can find at the BookFest@ Malaysia Facebook page (facebook.com/ BookFestMalaysia). A new password will go up daily, posted at random times during the day, so be sure to check the page often.

Star2 readers will have an extra edge: tomorrow and on Sunday, there will be special coupons printed in our pages; cut them out (no photocopies, please!) and present them on those days to get the chance to be picked to participate ahead of those without coupons.

Now go on, go brush up on your trivia knowledge!

BookFest@Malaysia 2017 will be on daily, from 10am to 10pm, from tomorrow to July 2 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Admission is with purchase of the BookFest catalogue at RM2.50 per entry or RM10 for multiple entries over the nine days. Catalogues are available at all Popular and Harris bookstore outlets nationwide and will also be sold at the event’s entrance. Entrance is free for students 18 years old and below and senior citizens aged 60 and above.
