Work-ready business grads to boost the economy
UNDER the 11th Malaysia Plan, the establishment of the Critical Skills Monitoring Committee (CSC) jointly led by Talent Corporation (TalentCorp) and the Institute of Labour Market Information and Analysis (ILMIA) aimed at facilitating policy formation to mitigate skills mismatches within Malaysian labour market will develop an annual Critical Occupations List (COL).
In the latest COL 2016/2017, the committee identified 48 occupations across six sectors that are high in demand to propel the economy.
The sector includes among others, oil and gas, financial services, telecommunication and multimedia, information communication and technology (ICT) and global business services.
The 48 critical occupations include finance managers, business services managers, sales and marketing managers, among others.
Coupled with Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem urging graduates to consider venturing into the entrepreneurial scene, school-leavers should take this opportunity to study business.
