Irish edge in local medical programme

-

PERDANA University is the only private higher education institution in Malaysia to offer the 5+0 medical degree programme in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

This enables financial savings and peace of mind for families as it allows students to complete an Irish medical qualification entirely in Malaysia.

The programme is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and is recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and the

Irish Medical Council (IMC), enabling graduates to practise medicine anywhere in the world.

The five-year curriculum is divided into three cycles – Junior Cycle (JC), Intermediate Cycle (IC) and Senior Cycle (SC).

Students will be imbued with an understanding of knowledge, attitudes and skills to later serve as medical doctors in the community as they study Biomedical Science, Clinical Medicine, Clinical Competency as well as Community and International Health while they develop and grow personally and professionally.

Students at Perdana University study the same programme as medical students at RCSI in Ireland.

Well-equipped facilities

The laboratories at Perdana University are well equipped and meet the standards of RCSI, which include an anatomy museum, clinical skill unit, anatomy laboratory, multidisciplinary laboratory and computer laboratory.

Students also have access to well-stocked libraries at the university and can access RCSI’s online library. They also benefit from a large teaching team comprising academicians from RCSI.

Students are sent either to Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar, Seremban or Hospital Putrajaya as part of their practical training.

To enable students to achieve their ambition to be medical doctors, there is a wide range of scholarships and financial aids available.

It includes the Perdana University Scholarship and also from other entities such as the Public Services Department (PSD)/Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) Scholarship or the Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN).

Perdana University was established as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative by Academic Medical Centre Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Chase Perdana Sdn Bhd with the support of the Unit Kerjasama Awam Swasta of the Prime Minister’s Department.

Perdana University is envisioned to be an educationresearch hub for the region to fulfil the needs of the nation for competent health science graduates.

The university operates from an interim campus that is well furnished and conducive in the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). It is a short drive to the townships of Serdang, Seri Kembangan and Putrajaya, and several minutes from IOI City Mall.

The university attracts some of the brightest and promising academics locally and internationally, providing guidance and sharing their knowledge with the students.

A variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are available at the university, including Foundation Studies (pre-university), Occupational Therapy and Bioinformatics.
