Taking the ‘blues’ away
Combat the signs of ageing from blue light with a new product developed for the modern woman.
IN today’s digital world, it is estimated that we pick up our phones around 150 times a day, not to mention other devices like laptops or tablets.
The bad news is, blue light emission from such digital devices adds to the list of harmful substances that are found in our environment.
“The five environmental aggressors that we face daily are UVA and UVB rays, air pollution, infrared radiation, which comes from microwaves and stove tops, as well as blue light from digital devices,” said David Whyte, Murad’s Asia Pacific global educator.
These culprits are damaging to skin and contribute to the ageing process.
To counter these negative effects is Murad’s latest pair of skincare products under its City Skin series.
“Anti-pollution is the next big thing in skin care. By using the Murad City Skin Duo, you are being protected from blue light as well as other environmental factors that are damaging your skin,” said Whyte, who was in Kuala Lumpur recently to launch the new products.
The City Skin Duo consists of the City Skin Age Defense SPF50++++ and City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturiser, which are formulated with lutein and marrubium plant extracts to target the effects of blue light.
“Lutein is naturally found in leaves of plants and it acts as a physical barrier to blue light, inhibiting up to 86% of it,” explained Whyte, adding that another ingredient, ion oxide, helps protect skin from infrared pollution.
The City Skin Age Defense is an ultra-lightweight, 100% mineral sunscreen that combines a physical SPF50 barrier with the anti-oxidant lutein. This forms an additional protective layer believed to counter damages from IRA (infrared A) and pollution.
The City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturiser is a night cream said to detoxify skin from the pollutants and toxins that have accumulated throughout the day. Anti-oxidants from marrubium plant stem cells help neutralise pollutants and strengthen the skin’s barrier while you sleep. In addition, a new generation of vitamin C ingredient helps to brighten and even up skin tone.
The Overnight Detox Moisturiser comes in a special packaging that incorporates a push down nozzle to give out a measured dose, keeping it more hygienic and stablising the vitamin C.
“The main philosophy behind all of Murad products is something we call the cellular water principle. This distinctive point-of-view called Connected Beauty, is a whole personal approach to health and beauty that inspires people to nourish their skin, awaken their body through physical activity, be kind to their mind, and “eat” their water by consuming water-rich fruits and vegetables,” said Whyte, who encourages women to consume more dark leafy greens to get natural protection for their skin.
