Vasanthi (Ambika) is forced to marry Dr Anand (Rajesh) despite being in love with Palakkad Madhavan (Bhagyaraj), a poor but honest, aspiring music director. On her wedding night, Vasanthi attempts suicide but Dr Anand manages to save her. He then asks her about her past and she tells him about Madhavan. Upon hearing that, Dr Anand becomes the bigger person and goes in search of Madhavan to reunite the lovers. While he goes about doing that, Vasanthi gets to know more about Dr Anand and his family. Will she have a change of heart in the end?
