Perodua’s safety campaign takes off

-

PERODUA has launched a fiveyear-year road safety campaign to inculcate good driving behaviour among Malaysians.

President and chief executive officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said statistics had shown the occurrence of road accidents in the country reached half a million last year, with 7,000 deaths or a fatality rate of 6%, higher than previously.

“A survey showed 80.6% of the road accidents were due to human negligence,” he said at the launch of the Perodua Road Safety Campaign and Perodua Child Seat recently.

The campaign was officially launched by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abd Aziz Kaprawi.

Aminar said the five-year programme’s initial focus is on the four pillars of good driving habits, namely the wearing of seat belts, non-usage of mobile devices while driving, the usage of turn signals and usage of child seats.

He said the safety campaign includes putting up promotional materials at Perodua sales and service outlets nationwide, with safety messages targeted to reach one million customers within a year of the programme.

Perodua also unveiled its locally produced infant and toddler seats, under Perodua’s allnew range of car accessories, GearUp.

From now until Chinese New Year 2018, Aminar said the seats are being offered at introductory prices of RM660 and RM780 for the infant and toddler seats respectively.

After the promotional period, the infant seat will be priced at RM790 and the toddler seat at RM980.

“We believe the products are competitive when compared against other established brands, and what’s more, they come with our seal of approval,” he added.
