First UD Croner delivered

-

Tan Chong Industrial Equipment – the sole distributor of UD Trucks in Malaysia – delivered its recently launched medium duty UD Croner truck to its first customer, Ong Brothers Petroleum.

“We have been a UD Trucks customer since 1984 when we purchased the Nissan Diesel CMF truck, back when UD Trucks was formerly known as Nissan Diesel,” said Ong Brothers Petroleum managing director Ong Thai Hean.

He added that since then, they have been adding more UD Trucks to their fleet with a current total of eight units including the newly purchased Croner.

Also, he stated that their purchase stems from their confidence in UD Trucks’ reliability, robustness, fuel efficiency, safety, customisability and comprehensive aftermarket service.

Ong Brothers Petroleum, established in 1962 and based in Kepong, distributes a wide range of petroleum products for both home and industrial consumption such as engine oil, mineral oil, industry lubricant oil, petroleum jelly fuels, metalworking fluids, cleaners and paraffin waxes within the country.

The Croner truck is named after the god of time in Greek mythology and is a medium-duty truck range that’s specifically made for growth markets like Malaysia with a 12-tonne LKE and larger 18-tonne PKE variants for choice.

As standard, the Croner comes with a full air brake system, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, S-cam drum brakes and front underrun protection.

An air suspension system and auto transmission are available as an option.

The smaller LKE with 5,500mm wheelbase has a 190litre fuel tank that feeds the 210hp/825Nm Euro3 5,132cc GH5E 210 EC01 turbodiesel engine that’s mated to a UDT ST1006 six-speed manual synchronised direct drive gearbox with cable gear shift linkage remote control.

The larger PKE uses a 250hp/950Nm Euro3 7,698cc GH8E 250 EC01 turbodiesel engine instead.

“At TCIE, we believe that our relationship with our customers don’t just end at the point of sales, but continues to after sales and like Ong Brothers Petroleum and many of our clients, it stretches to many decades,” said TCIE chief executive officer Wong King Yoon.

Currently, TCIE has 43 service centres and dealerships nationwide and all newly purchased UD Trucks are supported by UD Extra Mile Support services which includes UD Genuine Service and Parts, UD Breakdown Support, UD Driver Training and UD Trust Service Agreements for customers.
