Relief for rough, dry, cracked and sensitive skin

-

MEET a new superhero that will be rescuing troubled skins nationwide. Linola is a well-loved pharmaceutical skincare range developed by Dr August Wolff in Germany in 1957 and has continually undergone countless research and development exercises over the decades. Today, it is the No.1 preferred skin care range by paediatricians in Germany.

In 1905, chemist and pharmacist Dr Wolff founded his company in Bielefeld, Germany and invented a number of medical products. Dr Kurt Wolff joined his father in the company in 1937.

His first product innovation resulted in preparations containing linoleic acid. He researched this field for many years. It was well known even back in the days of the senior Wolff that the body must be supplied with linoleic acid, just like it has to be provided with vitamins from food to stay healthy.

This idea resulted in a formulation created in 1938 that is now widely known. Its inventor gave it the obvious name of Linola. Named after its key ingredient, linoleic acid, Linola is not just another run-of-the-mill range of products for dry skin.

Of the many essential fatty acids available, linoleic acid was chosen specifically as it is one of the longest chain essential fatty acids available for the skin. The longer the chain, the better it is for your skin’s natural barrier.

For rough, dry, cracked and sensitive skin, the Linola range provides a moisturising and soothing effect that would aid in relieving associated discomfort and dryness.

The star product is Linola Lotion. It is formulated with essential linoleic acids and developed especially for all forms of dry and stressed skin. It contains linoleic acid rich vegetable oil and is free from harmful mineral oils and silicones.

Linola Lotion is most suitable for very rough, dry, cracked and sensitive skin – common complaints of eczema sufferers.

Its No.1 standing in Germany under the best supportive medical care category for all types of dry skin in 2012, 2013 and 2016 is a testimony of its efficacy.

For other conditions such as dry and scalp discomfort commonly seen in scalp prone to psoriasis, Linola Forte Shampoo contains unique ingredients such as Sichuan pepper plant extract, menthol and the essential linoleic acid to relieve discomfort and replace the essential fatty acid barrier on the surface of the skin.

The company’s medical information manager Dr Manuel Hauser said that the protective layer of the skin can be “worn off” by frequent showering with hot water and extensive use of soaps, climate conditions such as long exposure to air conditioning as well as the ageing process.

“To protect the skin against barrier breakdown and depletion of lipids and moisture, constant replenishment of lipids and other essential components of healthy skin is vital. The body cannot produce linoleic acid on its own,” said Dr Hauser at the Linola Skin Care Workshop in Subang Jaya recently.

Like vitamins, it must be substituted on a regular basis to maintain healthy skin.
