Producing future doctors
MELAKA-MANIPAL Medical College celebrates 20 years in Malaysia in 2017 and has become the preferred institution for topnotch medical education in Malaysia.
It was the third private medical school to be established in Malaysia and has, since its inception, delivered highly proficient medical professionals to the Malaysian health system and all across the globe.
Melaka-Manipal embarked on its flagship Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1997 and then launched the popular Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2009.
These programmes were followed by the pre-university level Foundation in Science (FiS) in 2012.
All its programmes are fully accredited. Scholarships for the foundation course are now being offered by Melaka-Manipal.
With favourable terms and conditions for applicants who wish to pursue their passion in medicine or dentistry, the scholarships will go a long way to alleviate the financial burden for parents.
SPM leavers who wish to follow the noble vocation but worry that finances may set them back are encouraged to visit education fairs such as the Star Education Fair and others held across Malaysia for more information.
What makes Melaka-Manipal an iconic institution is its adherence to imparting high-quality education, mindful that their graduates will be dealing with human lives.
Its mindset of continuous improvement lays claim to its fixation on providing the best medical and dental education, a fervour that remains undiminished despite its extensive stay in the forefront of education in Malaysia.
This dedication goes a long way in explaining the accolades it has received throughout its fascinating two-decade journey.
This includes being the first private institution to be granted a five-year accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency/Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) Joint Technical Committee for its MBBS in 2009.
In 2011, the institution was awarded the BrandLaureate Superbrand Best in Education – Medicine.
It was also accorded six stars consecutively in various categories in 2011 and 2013 in the MoHE’s MyQuest ratings of private colleges.
Melaka-Manipal’s MBBS needs little introduction as it has been around since the late ‘90s. Its alumni are now successfully practising their calling all over the world, from the United States to Europe and Asia.
This is attributed to the intense and expert training that Melaka-Manipal students go through to get its much sought-after degrees.
The BDS programme, in its own right, is such a lure that its seats are taken up 18 months ahead of its intake.
The only way to enrol in this popular dental surgery undergraduate programme is via Melaka-Manipal’s homegrown FiS.
FiS students are given priority in applying for BDS over external candidates. The FiS has turned out to be a hugely popular programme.
Melaka-Manipal was the first to include medicine and dentistry subjects in its foundation curriculum to introduce students to the basics of the subjects they would face in their preferred degree programmes.
This will facilitate their settling down in the MBBS and BDS studies much faster.
The scholarships being offered now will be an incentive for students who are concerned about finance being a major hindrance in the pursuit of their aspirations.
In this day and age, when there are many institutions offering medicine and dentistry, it is essential to choose the right education in medical studies.
