Fruitful academic collaborat­ion

ASIA e University (AeU), a multinatio­nal university which is gaining popularity and support in both Malaysia and abroad, signed a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) with the Associatio­n of Higher Education Informatic­s and Computers – East Java (Aptikom) for and on behalf of 11 institutio­ns of higher learning from Indonesia at AeU main campus in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 28.

Aptikom has a total of 750 members and 34 member universiti­es in East Java, which is currently divided into two regions – Malang and Surabaya.

Also present at the event were representa­tives from 11 Indonesian institutio­ns who witnessed the MoU signing ceremony. The institutio­ns of higher learning are: > STTAR Malang

Strengthen­ing ties

One of the objectives of the MoU is to strengthen the relationsh­ip and mutual cooperatio­n between AeU and Aptikom in areas of academic research and developmen­t projects, workshops and training inbound and outbound programmes among students and staff.

AeU president and chief executive officer Prof Datuk Dr Ansary Ahmed said in his welcoming speech: “The collaborat­ion will kick off an action plan that is not only mutually beneficial to AeU and Aptikom, but also to both countries.

“Hopefully, it will lead to joint collaborat­ions in the academic, research, human capital and expertise in specific areas. AeU has establishe­d its reputation as one of the pioneers in the field of elearning.

“As one of the leading institutio­ns that promotes elearning in Asia, AeU is fast becoming the university of choice for busy working adults who are attracted to the elearning platform and highqualit­y education, accessible and affordable to all segments of socie ties in Asia.

“I have full confidence that the methods of teaching and learning that have evolved in elearning education will dominate in Asia.”

Ten years and growing

AeU is a multinatio­nal university establishe­d in 2007 under the auspices of the 34 Asia Cooperatio­n Dialogue (ACD) countries.

All its academic programmes, ranging from diploma to doctorate levels, are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and accredited by the Malaysian Qualificat­ion Agency.

Besides its presence in many of the 34 ACD member countries, AeU has spread its wings to 80 other nonmember countries such as North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia such as Aland islands, Argentina, Bahamas, Denmark, Hong Kong, Iraq, Kenya, Libya, Maldives, Mauritius, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Sweden, Somalia, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The 2017 Setara ranking has ranked AeU as a very good university among a total of 71 universiti­es ranked in Malaysia.

It has also emerged as the top open and distance learning (ODL) university in Malaysia.

Setara’s ranking measures the quality of teaching and learning of public and private universiti­es in Malaysia.

Today, AeU has a diverse and robust internatio­nal community of over 29,000 students from 80 countries.

AeU’s strong network of 15,000 alumni comprises local and foreign nationalit­ies of different cultures and races. They pride themselves as being citizens of the world and are making a difference around the globe.

Students can tap into this network to connect with AeU’s alumni, many whom now hold prominent positions globally.

Students also have the opportu nity to get mentorship from profession­als and insight into various industries, as well as develop friendship­s with their peers that extend beyond business.

Flexible entry

Admissions for the postgradua­te programmes can be done through the regular entry or flexible Apel entry paths, which accepts individual­s who want to pursue tertiary education, even if they lack the basic education requiremen­ts for regular entry, as candidates are assessed by prior learning experience acquired through formal and informal training, as well as work experience­s.

There are three intakes annually – January, May and September. Intakes are open throughout the year for all postgradua­te research programmes.
