SIME Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), has previewed the latest Porsche Cayenne (E3) and the luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) is expected to arrive towards the end of this year.

Without disclosing the price, SDAP will be offering two variants, starting with the entry-level Cayenne that will have 340hp (+40hp over the previous generation variant) on tap from its 3.0-litre turbocharged engine.

The range-topping Cayenne S will be sporting a more potent 440hp (+20hp) 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 - allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100kph in under 5.0 seconds if equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package.

The new Cayenne will be so ome 65kg-lighter than its predecessor due to o the extensive use of aluminium for its chassis and body panels and manage power delivery to its active all-wheel drive system with a new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.

The Cayenne will also get 21-inch wheels that wear (for the first time) mixed tyres and have rear-axle steering as well as Porsche 4D Chassis Control, three-chamber air suspension and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) - an electronic roll stabilisation system.

The braking system will feature the German sportscar builder’s latest braking technology - Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB), which replaces its long-standing Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system. The PSCB maintains use of the common cast iron disc brake system which has a mirror-like finish thanks to the tungsten carbide coating that prevents it from rusting and significantly reducing the occurrence of brake dust.

Inside, the Cayenne’s cabin practically mirrors the Panamera’s and this SUV will also receive the Porsche Advance Cockpit display for its instrument cluster.

“The new Cayenne is now more precise, elegant, athletic and expressive. The new Cayenne has also been digitalised and networked throughout by providing another level of digitall connectivity to the cockpit. “Thiis includes versatility, quality and neew cutting edge driver assistance systems that offer both driver and passengers extraordinary comfort,” said SDAP chief executive officer Arnt Bayer during thee preview.
