SEGI University and Colleges prepares youths for their longterm careers. The journey begins by choosing the right foundation or diploma programme.

It can be stressful for school leavers to decide on the next course of action. SEGi University and Colleges provides guidance and presents choices. Before choosing a pathway, youths must understand the difference between a diploma and foundation.

Diploma and its advantages

Diploma is an academic certificate issued after the completion of study in your choice of course. It takes between 24 and 36 months to complete depending on the course.

Various diploma courses available at SEGi University and Colleges include accounting and business, communication, creative arts and design, early childhood care and education, engineering, hospitality and tourism and computing and IT.

The assessment module varies and some may require choosing electives in a particular field.

Students are required to complete coursework/assignments and sit for a final exam as well as undergo a semester of internship.

A diploma programme allows students to get early exposure to real-world work experience through internship or practical.

Upon completion, graduates can opt to pursue an undergraduate degree or seek employment to gain some working experience before continuing to the next education level.

Diploma holders can also gain a degree qualification via a suitable part-time course.

School leavers must identify their interest and choose a specialisation.

Therefore, the learning modules are developed to enable students to master a particular skill. Best of all, it requires only a minimum of three credits in SPM or equivalent as recognised by the Malaysian government.

A diploma course is eligible for an education loan – PTPTN, which takes the financial burden off parents.

Foundation courses and its advantages

A diploma programme allows students to get early exposure to real-world work experience through internship or practical.

The foundation year is an introductory programme that bridges school leavers from secondary studies to a university degree.

The one-year programme allows students to choose elective subjects. SEGi University and College offers Foundation in Science, Information Technology, Commerce and Arts that runs full-time for three semesters.

Successful completion will allow students to progress to over 130 articulation pathways for undergraduate degrees.

Throughout their study, apart from the elective subjects students will also be exposed to a variety of subject areas, enabling them to develop the learning skills crucial to pursue a degree.

The foundation year enables students to fast-track to a degree. After only a year, upon completion you can immediately enrol in your choice of undergraduate degree.

Students have the chance to study a variety of subjects without specialising in a particular field. The elective subjects allow you to understand your interest in a field before choosing a degree.
