They are required by any small business or big multinationals to plan the budget, provide financial advice and prepare the annual financial statements, as well as carry out auditing of the company’s accounts efficiently.
Realising the need for trained and skilful accounting personnel, Management and Science University (MSU) College, through its School of Business Management and Professional Studies (SBMP), offers the Diploma in Accounting for those who have completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM/SPMV).
Students will be exposed to principles of accounts and auditing, as well as the latest developments in the field of economy, management, marketing, finance and insurance.
The curriculum ensures the students will be competent in carrying out not only accounting transactions, but also to provide advice on complex issues in making tough business decisions.
This three-year course lays a strong foundation for students to master theory and techniques in understanding financial activities.
Areas of study include economy, information technology and accounting law.
Job opportunities are available in the government sector as well as the private sector, especially in banks.
With three credits in Mathematics, Science and any other subject in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM/SPMV) or with recognised certificates, students can expect an environment conducive to learning and high-calibre lecturers with years of expe- rience in the field.
MSU College students can further their studies by transferring credit to pursue a bachelor’s programme in the second year at MSU through its Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies.
Students are also encouraged to obtain further accounting certification such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT) to increase their earning power.
Apart from this programme, other programmes offered by SBMP include Early Childhood Education, Management and English Language Teaching (ELT).
