ONLINE supergroup and artist management company Red People has helped to realise the dreams of many young Malaysians into becoming a superstar.

Established with the aim of integrating the forces of the country’s online personalities, nurture and train them for mainstream media, the company has a stable of talents ready to conquer the entertainment world.

Red People chief operating officer Kok Kee Lau said Malaysia has a lot of gifted people waiting to be discovered.

“Individually they have carved a niche for themselves as online influencers. But they need a proper platform to showcase their talent and their own branding to set them on the right track.

“This is where Red People comes in. We have our own training academy, production team and social media channel to guide and promote them for success.”

He added that the Red People YouTube Channel featuring their latest songs, Red News, Red News Daily, Red People Drama, Red Reality Show, Games and others has hit almost 500,000 subscribers.

Among the many celebrities under Red People are singer Joyce Chu, Michiyo Ho, female idol group AMOi-AMOi and rising star 404, an all-boys dance group.

Joyce rose to fame after the music video of her song Malaysian Chabor gained more than 22 million views on YouTube. She became a regional Internet sensation with that song composed by Namewee.

The lead single I Miss You from her selftitled EP released in Taiwan has also gone viral, garnering her 44 million views on YouTube and a staggering 600 million views on China’s social media platforms.

She had also starred in Singapore’s first cosplay-themed film Young & Fabulous and in Heroes of Remix under the mentorship of Taiwanese superstar Wang Leehom.

AMOi-AMOi, comprising Malaysians ShaoQi, Stella Chen, May Ng and Taiwanese ET Wang, will release their new Chinese New Year song Happy Go (meaning ‘pug dog’ in Mandarin), to usher in the Year of the Dog.

Their first single released last year, an entertaining Chinese New Year song titled Rich Hot Chicks has thrusted them into the limelight while their cover of the Chopstick Brothers’ Little Apple received more than 12,500,000 views.

Michiyo is another rising star. Her song Love You No More released in both Korean and Mandarin version was a bit hit with the media in Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

The song was so popular that she was invited for TV interviews in Taiwan, paving the way for her to enter the Taiwanese market.

Red People’s in-house boy band P-High is yet another success story.

Their song Poor Love Song was an overnight hit with over 100,000 views within a day when it was released in 2014, resulting in the track successfully charting the Taiwan music scene.

Red People has also produced and released loads of songs and online shows such as Dato Sai, Fitting Queen, Kongkam Show and Opera ABC on the Internet.

Dato Sai is a series of Cantonese-language videos starring Charles Tee together with other artistes focusing on social issues; Fitting Queen is about female artistes trying out clothes at fashion boutiques.

The hilarious Kongkam Show pit the artistes against each other in various challenges while Opera ABC revolves around the Red School.

Every Chinese New Year, Red People will produce a Chinese New Year-themed song. The recent song Red Hot Year, performed by 50 of the country’s key opinion leaders (KOLs), hit over one million views on YouTube within a month.

Do stay tuned with the Red People YouTube Channel for all the new contents and surprises to be released this year.
