The Star Malaysia - Star2

To mark International Women’s Day today, Star 2 is dedicating its pages to women.

In today’s special issue, we celebrate Malaysian women who have dedicated their lives to empowering others and bringing real change to their communities.

Reita Rahim and her band of volunteers and village coordinators have somehow kept going for 14 years and empowered indigenous women by giving value to their crafts, and abilities.

Every day poses a challenge for Joycelyn Lee and Andrea Tan as they figure out how to keep Pit Stop Community Cafe going to continue serving the homeless and the urban poor. But they persevere because their efforts make a difference.

The three young women behind The Picha Project don’t have much time to hang out with friends, shop or travel and see the world, but they find a greater purpose in helping refugee families find happiness in Malaysia.

Alyson Thor and Eileen Soon believe that their special needs students have a place in society, and they set up Lemme Learn to give them a fighting chance at a purposeful life.

In our entertainment pages, we have 10 television shows with strong women characters who challenge stereotypes and push the bar in terms of content. Make sure you catch these shows!
