A career like no other
CHARTERED accountants are some of the most in-demand professionals in the world, valued for their technical expertise and professional standards, as well as their ability to interpret business problems and develop dynamic solutions.
ICAEW Chartered Accountants (ACAs) are recognised as having a world-leading qualification and often rise to positions of business leaders, C-suite and senior management.
ICAEW is a world leading professional membership organisation that connects with over 147,000 chartered accountants worldwide.
The ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification is recognised internationally as premier in business and finance.
One of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available, the ACA is founded on feedback and insight from the industry and enables membership to ICAEW.
Given the prestige and unrivalled career options that the ACA offers, it is no surprise that ICAEW attracts some of the best minds from various fields of study, including sciences, engineering and the arts.
ICAEW has a vision of a world of strong economies, a strategic ambition to cultivate current and future generations of finance professionals, forming connected communities to develop strong, accountable and open economies.
In line with this vision, ICAEW works closely with its partner in learning, Sunway TES Centre for Accountancy Excellence (Sunway TES CAE), to advance accounting excellence in Malaysia.
This partnership has enabled Sunway TES CAE to innovatively adapt the ICAEW ACA programme, making it possible for mature school leavers to attain this foremost qualification.
The ICAEW ACA programme conducted at Sunway TES CAE begins with Certificate level studies – the ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB).
A full-time structured study programme, this level comprises six ICAEW modules and provides key practical skills and essential knowledge in the areas of accounting, assurance, business and finance, law, management information and principles of taxation.
As a private education institute accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, students at Sunway TES CAE will also be required to undertake General Education Subjects (Mata Pelajaran Pengajian Umum).
ICAEW CFAB also includes a three-month paid Work Based Learning (WBL) period with an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer (ICAEW ATE).
During this time, students will be required to interact and consult with real clients, giving them the opportunity to get to know their future employer as they experience the culture and professional work environment first hand.
Upon completion of the ICAEW CFAB, students progress to full-time studies at the Professional level.
Delivered across six modules, this level focuses on advancing students’ understanding in core areas of business planning, business strategy, audit and assurance, financial accounting and reporting, financial management and tax compliance.
At the final Advanced level, students undertake part-time studies together with full-time salaried employment via a compulsory 450day Training Agreement with an ICAEW ATE.
Throughout the Training Agreement, students will be required to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and ability to think innovatively, alongside ethics and professional scepticism capabilities.
Effective communication, leadership and management skills are some of the other important attributes that will be evaluated during the Training Agreement.
ICAEW works with more than 140 Authorised Training Employers in Malaysia comprising practice, commercial, Government-linked organisations and financial services firms. These include leading brands such as Bank Negara, BDO, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, among others.
Financial support and scholarships are readily available to high achievers who score 9A+ and 9As in their SPM examinations or 3As in their STPM or A-levels.
The ICAEW Global Accountant Scholarship, for example, provides financial support for tuition and exam fees, ICAEW registration fees and learning materials.
During the Advanced level studies, programme fees will be sponsored by the ICAEW ATE.
