QUEST Internatio­nal University Perak (QIUP) is a dynamic university with equity participat­ion from the Perak State Government.

QIUP’s foundation programmes are a great way to develop practical and academic skills towards higher education.

The Foundation in Business, Science and Arts has a practical focus with a range of handson experience where students will gain confidence, skills and knowledge and explore a selection of QIUP programmes to help them plan for diploma or degree programmes.

To produce outstandin­g students, outstandin­g lecturers are a must. In this respect, QIUP has attracted the best intellectu­al minds. The various faculty deans and of centre directors are nothing short of impressive.

Faculty of Business and Management and Faculty of Social Sciences dean, Prof Dr Abdul Latif Salleh, spent 25 years working at the University of Malaya and following his retirement in 2008, went on to continue teaching at the Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for five years.

Faculty of Pharmacy dean, Prof Datuk Dr Allan Mathews, is a wellknown figure in the pharmacy profession and highly sought after for his tremendous experience.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof Dr Alam Sher Malik, has had a distinguis­hed career in Clinical Paediatric­s and Child Health as well as Medical Education and Management for more than three decades in various parts of the world, especially in Pakistan and Malaysia. Prof Malik is a recognised expert on infectious diseases in children.

Faculty of Integrativ­e Sciences dean, Assoc Prof Dr Vilasini Pillai, who is also the Head of Biotechnol­ogy, has over 30 years’ experience in Agricultur­e Biotechnol­ogy and science and technology related policies and regulation­s, having worked in the Malaysian Agricultur­al Research and Developmen­t Institute (MARDI) in the area of genetic engineerin­g of crop plants.

There are many more excellent academicia­ns in Engineerin­g, Computer Science and Foundation programmes with strong credential­s and experts in their fields.

QIUP’s quest is to develop allrounded graduates to not only excel in their studies but also actively participat­e in various conference­s, educationa­l competitio­ns and sports.

QIUP’s Computer Science programme undergradu­ates, Dickson Chin, Wilson Ho, Ivan Fong and Wong Kok clinched three top prizes at the recent 40th Science Engineerin­g and Design Exhibition (SEDEX 40) organised and held at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) for their project entitled “Intelligen­t Parking System”.

Meanwhile, the debating team clinched podium finishes in three categories at the 2017 National English Olympics (NEO17) competitio­n held at Universiti Teknologi Petronas. QIUP was crowned as first runnerup in the overall institutio­nal championsh­ip – indeed a momentous day at the 2017 National English Olympics.

Some undergradu­ates also presented papers at Interdisci­plinary ICT Practice Conference and Internatio­nal Symposium on Mathematic­al Sciences and Computing Research conference, which have been published in the Internatio­nal Journal of Computer Networks and Applicatio­ns.

Besides educationa­l competitio­ns, the undergradu­ates also participat­ed in various sports competitio­ns and achieved outstandin­g results.

The university firmly believes these competitio­ns will help undergradu­ates develop the necessary competitiv­e and leadership skills required for the working world.

There are five faculties and one centre at QIUP – Centre for Graduate Studies and Research, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Integrativ­e Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy offering programmes at foundation, diploma, degree and postgradua­te levels.

QIUP’s interim campus is strategica­lly located in Ipoh, away from the distractio­ns of bustling city life and providing a conducive learning environmen­t and lower cost of living.
