10 facts about Symphony of the Seas

Here are some notable numbers from Royal Caribbean International to prove that when it comes to cruise ships, bigger is better.

-

1 The Symphony of the Seas cruise ship is 362m long. In comparison, the Eiffel Tower in Paris is 324m high (from tip to tip) while the Washington Monument in the United States stands at 169m.

2 It is constructed out of 500,000 individual pieces, 27 times more than the parts used to assemble the Eiffel Tower.

3 It weights 228,081 gross registered tons (GRT), which is more than 17,000 African bush elephants.

4 There are more works of art on board than there are paintings at the Louvre museum.

5 Just one of its four bow thrusters (propulsion device on bow/stern of ship to make it manoeuvrable) has more horsepower than seven Ferrari cars.

6 Its 24 pools, waterslides and flow riding waves contain more than 94 times the water of one eruption of Old Faithful,

the cone geyser at the Yellowstone National Park in the US.

7 At 45.7m above sea level, the Ultimate Abyss is taller than the Buckingham Palace in England.

8 On an average seven-night cruise, 5,000 dozen fresh eggs, 379l of chocolate ice cream, 953kg of lobster tail and 1,134kg of fresh salmon are used.

9 As much as 680kg of coffee is made on an average seven-night cruise – that’s six million coffee beans. And, 1,814,401l of fresh water is consumed every 24 hours.

10 The Bionic Bar serves up to 1,000 drinks per minute, with 21 mixers, and 30 spirits, from two robotic arm bartenders. It took Makr Shakr 41,600 man hours to make and test the robotic bartenders, which is about the same time taken to build 273 custom-made Lamborghinis.
