Flying the flag for PAS
Siti Mastura Muhammad, 29
Contesting the Kepala Batas parliamentary seat, Siti Mastura may be new to candidacy but the young woman has been part of politics since young.
Having followed her parents to PAS meetings and events while growing up, she feels she has always been part of the party.
A Kepala Batas native, she became an official member in 2013 and was part of the GE13 PAS machinery in her hometown.
The fifth of six children, she is businesswoman who is currently pursuing a doctorate in Islamic development and management. When asked how she juggles her time between running an online clothing business, her studies and candidacy, Siti Mastura said she learnt to manage her time over the years.
“There are 24 hours in a day. If you divide it well, you can give each venture your all.
“I feel politics is important and part of Islam, and am happy to be contesting my home seat,” she said.
Mohamad Arif Abd Latiff, 27
Arif, who is contesting the Simpang Pulai state seat in Perak, joined Islamist party PAS two years ago.
He said he was pumped for the opportunity to contest in GE14 and aspires to serve the constituents by engaging them in frequent on-the-ground interactions.
The alternative medicine practitioner is now taking a break from his career to focus on his campaigning.
Muhammad Aminur Syafiq Mohamad Abduh, 28
Aminur Syafiq is the PAS candidate for the Alor Setar parliamentary seat.
He was born in Kampung Berjaya, Alor Setar, and has been involved in PAS since 2009.
He holds a degree in Business Administration (Finance and Islamic Banking) and is a youth entrepreneur and lecturer.
Aminur Syafiq is also Alor Setar PAS information chief and Kedah PAS youth exco member.
Jumaidin Lakalla, 26
Jumaidin is the youngest Sabah PAS candidate. He is the Kuamut PAS co-ordinator under the Kinabatangan PAS division.
This oil and gas technology graduate had also studied electronic engineering.
From Kampung Jaya Baru, Bukit Garam in Kinabatangan, Jumaidin is contesting the state seat of Kuamut, against incumbent Datuk Masiung Banah.
