Moulding doctors and dentists
MELAKA-MANIPAL Medical College (MMMC) has been at the forefront of medical education in Malaysia since its inception in 1997, celebrating its two-decade stay here with the graduation of nearly 4,000 medical doctors and over 200 dental surgeons to date.
Melaka-Manipal has been the recipient of many accolades, including the Brandlaureate South-East Asia’s Superbrand in Education – Medicine in 2011.
It was the first private medical school to be granted a five-year accreditation term in 2009 for its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme while its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) foretells a similar trend after the Malaysian Qualifications Agency’s last accreditation visit.
The iconic Institution Manipal of India has just leapt seven rungs up to No.11 in a recently announced ranking for all medical schools in India, both public and private.
It is expected to break into the top 10 soon. Among the private medical schools in India, Manipal was ranked third by Outlook Magazine in 2017.
This reflects the high standards of medical education that Manipal prides itself in and cascades into all its institutions across the globe.
Melaka-Manipal is seen as a specialist institution that offers two highly acclaimed degree programmes – the MBBS and the BDS.
It also runs a pre-university level Foundation in Science (FIS), which prepares students who have completed their SPM or O-Levels for its own medical and dentistry courses.
Melaka-Manipal’s degrees are uniquely designed in that students complete the first phase of their twin-campus studies overseas and then return to Malaysia for the second phase.
The stint in India covers pre-clinical studies for the MBBS and BDS at the Melaka Manipal campus, and students who have been there often gush over its “awesome” facilities for study and play.
Phase 2 requires students to return to Malaysia where MBBS students continue with clinical training in local hospitals in Melaka, Muar, Segamat and Jasin, to name a few.
Dentistry students have a complete dental clinic within Melaka-Manipal’s ambient campus.
The facilities in both Manipal and Malaysia campuses are second to none.
Both campuses are equipped with various teaching and learning facilities, including an auditorium, lecture halls, classrooms, multi-disciplinary laboratories, clinical skills learning centre and computer laboratories.
Other amenities include student hostels, cafeterias, gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, squash courts, football field, basketball court and simulated games for golf and football.
MMMC’s campus is equipped with the finest infrastructure to ensure that its students are inspired to pursue their career with zest and passion.
The facilities cater to teaching and learning as well as their recreational requirements by providing amenities for the students’ comfort and well-being.
Every teaching and learning centre is well equipped with appropriate facilities to provide both teachers and students with the best learning ambience.
A visit to the MMMC campus is highly recommended.
