The Emperor, Owner Of The Mask
The emperor, Owner Of The Mask is an engaging Korean drama about the true power behind the throne and of course, love triangles.
Set in 18th-century Joseon, it tells the fictional story of Crown Prince Lee Sun (Yoo Seung-ho) and his fight against a powerful and wealthy organisation called Pyunsoo Group. Led by Daemok (Heo Joon-ho), the group controls the country by monopolising the nation’s water supply, essentially creating a puppet monarch.
In order to protect his identity from the Pyunsoo group, the prince has to wear a mask all his life. With the help of Han Ga-eun (Kim So-hyun), daughter of a deputy magistrate, he finds ways to gain enough power to overthrow the Pyunsoo Group and become a good ruler.
Yoon So-hee’s role as Kim Hwa-gun, Dae Mok’s granddaughter, is worth mentioning and at times, is more entertaining to watch than the main female lead.
The part where commoner Yi Sun (Kim Myung-soo) assumes the role of the prince for five years for the nation’s greater good, adds twists and depth to the series.
