Promoting EQ brand

-

THE Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ electric vehicle made its debut in Malaysia and Southeast Asia at the Mercedes-Benz EQ Brand Exhibition in Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur, and showed off the luxury German marque’s innovative design and technological direction.

“The Concept EQ is a cornerstone of our new electric mobility brand, EQ. It presents an innovative product approach as part of a holistic and comprehensive ecosystem for future mobility. “We are delighted to be able to showcase the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ here in Malaysia, marking the beginning of a pure-electric product offensive which will wear the EQ badge,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, vice president, sales and marketing passenger cars, Mark Raine.

Mercedes-Benz will market future battery-electric vehicles under the brand name EQ, which stands for “Electric Intelligence.”

The Concept EQ is designed as a crossover with scarcely visible body panel joins, concealed windscreen wipers, cameras instead of exterior mirrors and an absence of conventional door handles to emphasise the stretched and dynamic silhouette.

There are two electric motors on the front and rear axles and a battery in the vehicle floor of the Concept EQ with a total output of up to 300kW in the most powerful variant and a maximum torque of up to 700Nm. It goes from 0 to 100kph in under five seconds and has a range of up to 500km.

“EQ offers a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem of products, services, technologies and innovations. As the premium market leader, we are committed to remaining an industry pioneer with state-ofthe-art products and innovations,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, president and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner.
