Remedy for skin chafing

-

SKIN irritations are caused by constant combinations of frictional rubbing between the skin or against clothing, and is common among obese people.

This is further aggravated by heat and sweat, especially after a long walk in the warm, tropical weather.

The skin consists of three layers: epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue.

The outermost layer, the epidermis, is composed largely of dead skin cells that are constantly being shed and replaced.

The dermis or second layer has sweat and oil glands, nerve endings, and small blood vessels called capillaries. The nerves ending in this layer transmit sensations of pain, itch, touch and pleasure.

The subcutaneous adipose tissue is the deepest layer of skin and is a layer of fat and collagen that houses larger blood vessels and nerves.(1)

When chafing occurs, unnoticeable irritation can grow into microscopic tears in the top layer of skin, and it continues – from the protective layer, epidermis down into the dermis – the thick layer of “true skin” comprising living tissue, capillaries, nerve endings and more.

Destruction of either the epidermis or dermis due to chafing leaves the body open and susceptible to infection.

Chafing often begins with the onset of itchiness, painful stinging or burning sensation in skin folds.

Symptoms of chafing include:

• red or reddish-brown rashes

• itching, especially during warm weather

• irritation of the skin

• pruritus (severe itching of the skin)

• soreness

• burning sensation

• pain and discomfort while walking.

Chafing is commonly found in areas where skin is constantly in contact with each other, like the groin, between skin folds, on the abdomen, under the breasts, under the arms or in between the toes.

The condition becomes worse during warm weather as high temperatures lead to sweating, which collect in skin folds and causes inflammation.

Breathable protection for skin chafing

Linola Protective Balm was developed to help protect skin from chafing and harmful irritants, such as sweat. Yet it allows skin to breathe.

It is mineral oil-free and forms a soft, long-lasting protective film that keeps irritation away from the skin, without causing moisture build up and allows skin to breathe.

The essential plant-based components in the product also help prevent skin irritation.

It soothes and helps regenerate skin that is already irritated.

These are the reasons for the high level of demand for Linola Protective Balm.

It can be used between thighs or below the breasts where skin chafing and moisture usually occurs, as they tend to have larger skin folds and sweat more when overheated.(2)

Linola also has specially formulated products that target different areas of the body, such as face, hands and feet.

Each product has been researched and tested to meet the specific and unique needs of the different target areas of the body.

The whole range is available exclusively in Caring pharmacies.
