Turn that frown upside down

-

WHeN I’m in a bad mood, I’d like to clock someone who says this to me. However, if you stick this on the fridge and read it quietly when you need it, you may find that these four tips work for you, too.

Enjoy your bad mood

Instead of feeling a bit guilty about being grumpy, indulge yourself quietly for a quarter hour or so. Dwell on it lovingly, and enjoy being really, really angry with the world. If you’re lucky, the mood may wear itself out. If not, then at least you’ve had the joy of blackness. Now move on to the next step.

Know that when you’re down, everything is black

It’s a funny thing about our minds, but very often we will ignore all the good things that happen because it doesn’t suit our mood to see them. So if you’re in a filthy temper, make a deliberate effort to look for the positive. It can help turn your mood, and then you’ll start seeing the sunshine without effort.

Do something you love

If your day is being ruined by a bad mood, you may as well try to rescue at least some of it. Do what you love!

Maybe it’s a workout, or eating dark chocolate, or (quietly) reciting every curse word you can remember.

Whatever works for you, release the tension by doing this. If it still doesn’t work, try the final step.

Go frown in a mirror

It’s incredibly difficult to maintain a furious frown when you can see yourself. So go to the bathroom and stare at yourself. (You may want to use a small hand mirror and hide in a stall if you’re a boy.)

If you’re not laughing in a minute, you’re very unusual. P.S. this also works for crying.
